How can I uninstall OS X Yosemite and return to OS X Mavericks?

It seems that Apple does not care about (or does not want) application compatibility?
Apple conducted a developer testing program open to all registered developer for four and a half months and a lengthy public beta partly for the purpose of enabling application compatibility. I believe you should focus your wrath on those developers who failed to take full advantage of this opportunity.
Try AdwareMedic, a tool developed by one of this forum's primary malware gurus and a colleague of mine to safely and efficiently identify and optionally remove all currently known adware.
Thank you very much. I read the article and found the file. I was also - just before reading this - verifying my disk again through disk doctor and it told me to restart hitting option r or cmd r and to follow the instructions. funnily things have been slightly smoother in the past hours but maybe its cause I'm becoming used to the situation. i will include a picture of the file. you suggest i trash it? of course, correct? should i follow the disk doctors instructions? i have an external hard drive and did the backup thing daily but i dont know How to do it, tho the article said it might not matter and a clean reinstalation of everything would completely solve it, correct?
thank you bringing this to my attention. would you think this would solve the problem I've been having with yosemite so far re: bluetooth , audio video delays, disorganized icon graphics ? ill wait for your reply to do anything except for trashing the file "Java W" thank you again.
I downgraded back to Mavericks, but I still have the Yosemite startup manager with black background. How is it possible that Yosemite left some traces even though I erased my disk first? I want the startup manager to look like this. http://img.wonderhowto.com/img/original/97/80/63537839880896/0/63537839880896978 0.jpg However, now it looks like this. http://4unitmaths.com/photo2.gif
Those links are not mine, it's just an example. Does anybody know how to revert to the old startup manager too? It bothers me because when the computer is booting up there is the black screen for a longer time and after the startup sound is over, then the grey screen with the apple logo comes up. Before, there used to be the grey screen during the startup sound, not the black one. Thanks in advance.

You need to trash both the file /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.JavaW.plist and the entire folder /Library/Application Support/JavaW.
Most users infected by iWorm are unable to reach the App Store due to changes made to their hosts file and yours has been modified, but it could be for some other reason. We can fix that later, but the hard drive needs to be your first priority now.
Your disk looks pretty bad, so yes you should attempt to repair it by rebooting to your Recovery HD right away. Hard Drives usually last about three years, but all will fail at sooner or later. It looks like you have a good Time Machine backup going for you and although having a bootable clone as well would be even better in case your hard drive completely fails, but given the reported problems, I think it's too late for that.
ok so I deleted the file and the folder restarted with cmd -r and saw my options - to run the disk dr again. the program performed its process and said the hard drive was ok - not that I'm believing that.
what I'm wondering is: it is the photoshop cc 2014 file and i know the exact date i downloaded it - September 15. my question is... can i "restore" from my external time machine thing... can i restore it to a couple days before i installed the faulty program? or do i do a complete wipe of the local hard drive? and is there a way to get the stuff back before that particular date if i did a complete reinstall? is the restoration method from time machine backups still an option I guess is what I'm wondering or are those files lost too? does "restoration" cover system wide resinstallation? i saw my list of back up dates in the cmd-R point in the game when it gives you option to restore from an ext hd.
thanks

It's usually pretty accurate when it says it's able to fix the problem.

From the date on the JavaW file I would guess it was somewhere close to Sep 15, which was a couple of weeks before Dr. Web published having found it. Shortly after that, the network was reported to have been disabled, so there is a good chance you were fully infected and being used in some manner for a couple of weeks. Best case, they were just testing things out, but there is really no way to know at this point.
can i "restore" from my external time machine thing... can i restore it to a couple days before i installed the faulty program?
That's an excellent idea and clearly your best course of action at this point.
i edited my last entry but it was exactly sept 15. i see the torrent in my torrents log too.
so restart cmd r and restore a back up from say sept 1 or so well out of the original infection range yeah?
you think that would do the trick? won't take long either huh ? do you have a paypal so i can tip you? want my sisters hand in marriage?
Although I know it doesn't help you now, a tip for the future... This kind of thing is precisely why i NEVER install a new OS until at least version .1 and usually several updates down the line.
Unfortunately so many people rush to upgrade to the shiniest, newest OS the moment it's released, without thinking that there will inevitably be some issues that need to be ironed out. There will always be some third party developers who lag behind and, even with Apple's beta testers, there will always be people out in the wild who have their Macs configured in a way that none of the beta testers have.
This happens every single time a new OS is released. You'd think that people would learn...
I've read a number of forums on peoples problems and honestly i never had a problem before and i think a lot of people are shocked cause they didn't either. so i dont think its a question of people learning really.. for example theres some problem with bluetooth and yosemite people are having which doesn't really apply to your theory on people.
If you get time, plough back through these forums to each time a brand new OS is released. Then you'll see what I mean. 😉
The easiest way, by far, is with Time Machine. Simply connect your external HD, start the computer with cmd+R pressed and select the option to reinstall the OS with Time Machine. In a little while you will have the computer exactly as before the upgrade.
I did it that way last night and it was really simple and obvious. Glad I use Time Machine!
Have you tried downgrading with Time Machine? What does the startup manager look like? Is it the Yosemite's one with black background or the one with grey background, which is what we're used to with Mavericks?
