Yosemite iOS8 airdrop only from mac to iphone.

I tried a lot of things dat didn't work, but the thing that finally fixed it for me is really easy, so give it a try: turn off bluetooth on your mac (settings>bluetooth) and turn it back on again after a few seconds.

Hope this works for you guys.

on macbook, goto setting >security >firewall, Turn off firewall.

I was affected by same problem, I tried every suggested given here but no dice.

For some reason I open Disk Utility and pressed "Repair Disk Permission" after completion of I am able to use airdrop from IOS to OSX.

Same issue... no problem from MacBook Pro to iPhone 6 Plus, no go from iPhone 6 Plus to MacBook Pro.

This is ridiculous, I've tried everything in this thread.

Interestingly, when I try to pair the iPhone to the MBP via Bluetooth, it fails on the iPhone and tells me the MBP is "not supported". Something is going on.

I've been having the same problem with a Macbook Air (2013) and an iPhone 6 (iOS 8.4) for a few weeks now. My Macbook Air can see my iPhone 6, but my iPhone 6 cannot see my Macbook. Kind of annoying when you are trying to take photos off the iPhone.

Today, I finally looked into how to solve it. After reading through this thread and trying all of the easy stuff, I fixed it on the iPhone.

iPhone & OS X

1. Open Settings >> Bluetooth

2. Delete Bluetooth pairing info

iPhone Only

3. Pair with your Macbook

4. Accept new Bluetooth paring on Macbook

AirDrop works like a charm now. Hope this is useful.

Mine seems to be a perculiar case. I have tried ll these solutions but still my iphone 6 cant see my macbook yosemite and vice versa.

Also sometimes bluetooth connects between macbook and iphone 6 but am unable to transfer files. Please help..

Thanks, lisapdx! Even though I never did get them to 'connect' (I let it fail only a couple of times, then tried it), each shows up on the other device now! I think it just needed to kick itself to start working. What a pain though. But thanks for figuring out.

It truly amazes me that after the issue was reported 8 month ago no solution has been put in place to fix this bug.

Obviously having tow apple devices work as advertised is really low on Apple's priority list.

After 20+ messages of "Connection Unsuccessful - Make sure MacBook Pro is turned on and in range" on my iphone 6, and 20+ messages of "Network Unavailable - Make sure network access is enabled" on my Macbook, I'm afraid this hasn't helped. They paired just fine, but they won't connect.

My Mac can not see my iPhone 6, but iPhone 6 can see Mac in the same wifi. So I can only send things from phone to Mac not the other way. Airdrop is the weak point of Mac OS. After such a long time, the problem is still there.

Pls try this . I had same issue and it is now solved out. On ur iphone go Setting->bluetooth->find ur mac and choose forget this device. Then try airdrop. That's all. That's work for me.

i cannot see the option below in my mac airdrop no option who are nearby.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.

Check your firewall settings. If block all incoming connections is checked it means 'all connections' including Airdrop. this is also good for Sierra 10.12.6
