Itunes 12 album art no longer able to paste it in

Apple please return to copy and paste album art in iTunes. This searching for a file to import in is really annoying.

Use Get Info, select the artwork tab. You can use the Add button to browse for artwork to insert, or drag and drop, or copy & paste with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. To delete artwork select it and press backspace.

Good God, thanks to extensive homework and passing a final exam at Harvard, I can finally change & customize artwork again on iTunes. What do Microsoft & Apple have to gain by making things just tedious & insanely annoying with all these downgrades. Just to keep us busy & distracted from the big picture, I guess.

Well, back to google so I can look up how to log back into iTunes.

Well, got rid of my Windows system but my new iMac does have a Delete key...but no backspace key like Windows keyboard.

Ah, if memory serves that key used to either have a backspace symbol or legend on it. I see it now says delete, but it wouldn't surprise me if it functions as backspace and you have to hold function down if you want to delete from the right of the cursor.

I've followed this thread carefully but it does not answer a problem I am facing! I have already downloaded the "missing" artwork for several albums and used Get Info to add it to the tracks. However, for (currently) two albums I can "Add Artwork" but when I click OK it does not process it to add it to the tracks and so it remains blank. Is there something I need to know about the artwork (size, resolution, etc) which would account for these two albums not accepting their artwork?

You cannot manually add artwork to tracks in .wav format, or which have no defined tag, or where the security permissions don't allow you/iTunes to make changes. For that the last see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows. For mp3 files that don't have a tag (rare) try right-clicking then Convert ID3 Tags > v2.3. Alternatively the tracks (if mp3) may have multiple tags and iTunes updates one, but shows the data from an unchanged one. In this case using Convert > ID3 Tags > None several times, followed by Convert ID3 Tags > v2.3 should create a tag that you can update.

Unless you need to keep them in .wav for compatibility with other software use AIFF (same size/quality, supports tags) or Apple Lossless (same quality/smaller size, supports tags). If the original m4ps were protected iTunes store purchases that started life as 128k AAC files there is no point converting them into lossless formats.

OK, this is just a PITA. I can get Artwork for the individual tracks, but not for the album. No matter what I do, if I get to the get info dialog for the entire album, nothing will make the artwork tab keep anything I paste into it. No WAV files, all ALAC. So just to be clear, when in Artist mode with an artist selected, right-clicking on an Album title (in the right hand pane) to bring up the get info box, shows a generic album cover in the top left corner, AND if you go to the artwork tab it's empty. Nothing will get THAT artwork to persist past closing the window, but it can be added while the window is open and everything looks OK.

This is just a clusterf&%$.

This is also true if you choose multiple tracks from within an album that have the same artwork.

Does the artwork display correctly in other views? Its been a "feature" of iTunes for many releases that it does not display multi-item artwork within editor dialogs even though the artwork images are correctly embedded or associated with the media items of interest. For example, artwork for this album displays correctly in Albums view and when the album is expanded to show its tracks:

User uploaded file

but if I right-click > Get Info on the whole album or any combination of two or more tracks I get this:

User uploaded file

I don't pretend to understand why Apple have chosen not to show artwork images in this context, but its been this way for as long as I remember ...

If, however, you're not seeing any artwork, no matter which view you use in iTunes, the most likely issue is that your media files are read-only or that permissions issues in Windows are preventing media files being updated to embed artwork images,

"Old Style Get Info Dialog

Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu."

Yours is the one the worked that for me and it is much faster with less steps. The backspace woked to remove but the Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V did not work. I could drag to desk top and then Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V but not within get info.

I can't believe this but I figured out how to copy and paste Album Art without having to download the art from the net if I already had the art on some songs, my situation is I have album art on some songs of an Artist but there may be one song where the album art wasn't found, This is what i did, I minimized the Itunes window so I can see my desktop, I went to a song that had the Art I wanted to Copy I drag the Art to my desktop, then I went to the song where the Art was missing then I drag the Art into that song, that is it, Hope this helps

I may have found the reason as to why the album art isn't working here are the steps i used to solve this!

1. Locate the music within the hard drive.

2. Select every single music you want to add an art to, Either ctrl ( or command) + click the multiple files, or Crtl (or command) A to select all

3. Right click, and go to properties

4. Uncheck "read only"

5. save

6. Go back to itunes, and add the album art using the original method, it should work now!

Hope it helps!

This worked for a while but now it does not. When I hold down Shift and right click to get info I no longer get the old version. I get the new version no matter what I do. danieljludwig says to press option before get info to get old version but I do not see option anywhere. Does anyone have any new ideas on how to get the old version? Thanks, Robert
