Boot Camp on iMac Retina 5K?

I think that Apple states that Windows may be installed on the Retina 5K, but will there be a problem with drivers?

More importantly, will Windows drivers be in conflict with Apple's proprietary Timing Controller they've announced for this computer?

I received a 5k retina iMac today and immediately setup Windows 8.1 using the built in Bootcamp process. NO snags installing, NO driver/exclamation marks, NO lockups. Audio, Bluetooth (kb/mouse) and Network (wired/wireless) works in Win 8.1.

BOTH operating systems have the same HUGE (for me!) issue. **No 5k resolution option, so I cannot maximize the real estate**

OSX:

Windows: Allows for a native resolution setting of 4k 3840x2160.

Updating the ATI catalyst software pack from the version shipped to the latest October beta had no effect.

I've managed to get the card to work!

The last thing I tried was installing an old version of Windows 7 I had lying around. When it came to the Boot Camp drivers install, I cancelled it and installed the ATI drivers manually. The card worked fine. I then went on to install all the other Boot Camp drivers.

I don't know whether it was Windows 7 or installing the ATI drivers first that did the trick, but it's working like a charm!

Jumpin Jesus on a Pogo-stick! I had to download an .iso from DigitalRiver, and now i need to buy a Windows 7 license, but this solved my problem. The code 43 error is no longer present, and the video hardware appears to be functional. I have't had time to install my CAD software yet for complete testing, but so far this looks good.

Thank you David for your response. It was exactly what I needed.

The Driver haven't been updated for 5 month, 3.8K in Windows isn't too bad, but I would like to see the full 5K, but the Windows 8.1 scaling is horrible for a some Applications. Not sure what is the issue here? Who can we go and beat to get our 5K support in Windows?

OMG, please don't tell me that when Windows 10 comes this year, there won't be drivers support 😟

Anyway, most games works for me, I have been playing GTA V, and that works okay. The December driver isn't too bad, but this is probably the first time a "new" product is getting shoved as if it is a 5 year old product and getting zero support for the windows side only.

Something strange happened today: I've installed additional 16Gb of RAM into my 2014 iMac Retina, booted to Windows and Apple Software Updater showed me that there was an update available for Boot Camp. The thing is that it offered 6.0 update, which I already had installed. I thought it might be some fix or something like that, so I installed it, rebooted to Boot Camp again and... my screen resolution was 5120 by 2880 in Windows 10. I don't know weather it is just a coincidence and Apple really pushed an update, or the reason is in upgraded memory (I don't really think it is), but it is just something really really strange.

Yes, we have the same version. Very strange that mine is not working. Could it be that the graphic chip/hardware is defective? Could it be that this is a Windows 10 Home issue?

I had even tried to reinstall Windows 10 but the result is the same. Also tried to reinstall the Bootcamp 6 update again but still having the same error.

I had contacted the Apple Support staff but they do not seem to know what is wrong. They do not know about this issue as well.

it is a serious problem in the AMD drivers that Apple cannot see in his tests or Apple doesn't fix it... Maybe IT IS A PROBLEM WITH SOME TYPE OF VIDEO CARDS, I mean "hardware versions" or "different fabrication places".

I hope Apple can read this post, this forum, these messages to try to figure out the problem with the R9 290 and finally solve the driver error... I hope maybe some day.... maybe....
