This direct download worked for me too! thank you so much! I was about to reboot from my backup just before downloading yosemite last night and found this.

I couldn't open PS CS3 (old but works for me 😝 ) and was about to have a bit of a fit but this worked brilliantly!

Obviously there's always flaws in brand new operating systems and I'm sure it'll be ironed out but this saved me a bunch of time and stress!

Good news! You do not have to install this old java version any more!

Java provides version 8u25 in the meanwhile, and all my programs that asked for java 6 run, finally:

good luck!

Also: I called Apple about their not working help page (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572) and they advised me to open it like this (it seems to be a problem with with Safari's cache):

  • go to apple.com
  • Support
  • search vor DL1572
  • and there you go!

But: as mentioned above: not necessary any more!

Greetings from Germany!

I had the exact same issue. I clicked on the link and went to a BLANK page! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this type of BS!!! 😠 Thanks for wasting my Time GENIUS'!

Eventually, I made it to this page by way of a SEARCH:

I downloaded JAVA, end of pain, end of story.

The upload of Yosemite took for EVER!!! And, non of my Adobe Creative Suite products worked until I did this download. Everything seems to work fine now.

RUBBISH upgrade experience.
