Adobe's latest Dreamweaver version 2014.1.1 slowed to a crawl and they said my issue has been upgraded to an engineering ticket, so it will take a few days. I decided to go back and use my original version of DW CC, which needed Java runtime SE 6. Thanks for the link that let me install it and get back to work on the deadline while the Adobe engineers sort out the 2014.1.1 problems.

Great. Thanks so much sons. That is indeed a much easier link. I was already sweating cause I had to run a version of CPS einstruction that insisted on Java 6. I found that out after I installed Java runtime 8 form the Oracle website. Then I started to worry that I wouldn't be able to uninstall that Java but all I did was follow Oracle's instructions to simply find and dump that version in the trash. I tried to find Java6 but was lead to links that depended on Software update which doesn't do a Mavericks user any good. Anyway, I went to the link provided by sjons here (thanks again) and I when started CPS started it didn't ask for Java 6. Moreover the device manager which is dependent on J6 started up. It's lamentable to have to depend on legacy apps but what to U do you when one of your core apps for your personal workflow doesn't follow updates in Mac OS x and vice versa. I actually held out buying a new MacAir notebook cause I was hoping to find one with a pre Mavericks version installed. Unfortunately as many of us find out only later, once U upgrade you're pretty much stuck and that includes not being able to downgrade individual software like iTunes. Thankfully I was able to install a legacy Java. Cheers sjons.
