Upgraded to Yosemite and can no longer remote into my work iMac through screen sharing- it is turned on in settings?

My screen sharing functionality did not show up in the dock with an updated icon. It had a question mark- shows my connections but nothing works, I did make sure screen sharing is on and also connected to VPN. Once I tried to launch screen sharing nothing happens. Such an elegant solution in Mavericks not does not work. Ugh. Help!

I'm having the same issue and wondering if a difference in OS versions is the culprit (one running Yosemite, the other on Mavericks). Worked fine prior to the Yosemite upgrade.

Sorry but my setting in System Preference is computer sleep "NEVER", and it still happens. That is, I have selected this option for at least the last year. As a side note, I have also tried to toggle the "Wake for Network Access" hoping that would fix it but it does not. That is, my system connecting remotely is hit or miss. One final comment, I have connected to my remote computer and than after disconnecting and trying to connect just about 15 minutes later it does not permit the connection, i.e. hit or miss

I have tried that before ( I will try it again tonight when I am on my remote) and it did not work. Note the way I got there was to go into the file index and click on Go and type in vnc******, just says it cannot connect as others have indicated in other posts. BTW, thanks for any and all suggestions because remoting in (screen and file sharing) is imporatant to me and it has not worked correctly since yosemite upgrade, as I have read other have similar problems

No problem, I have been plague with various network issues since Yoshitonme came out as well.

Error Code -50) on file transfers, Mac Mini dropping off the LAN despite all other Windows PC's

still popping up on Finder, Screen Sharing issues, and huge wi fi issues as well. Yoshitonme

was not ready for primetime release.

My problems have all been with in house network I do not normally access home netowork from the

road so it's a little different than your issues. When I force connect via finder and GO VNC*** I can

connect, but that option does not allow for screen sharing via the Go. At least thats the way it has been

for me since Mavericks.

Other than reboots, I am all out of ideas for you. For not letting my Mac Mini sleep has solved most of my issues

except for the occasional Error - 50 during file transfers.

Thanks for the suggestions!! Note when I am on the same network (i.e. through my airport) I can always connect remotely but when I am truly remote (on a different network) is when things become hit or miss. Reboots always help but sometimes both the remote and the local machines have to be rebooted which is not practical. Once again thanks because accessing my files remotely (easy) is one reason I use macs.

This is working for me. I have some more testing to do before I can say this has solved my problem but I am hopeful.

By the way, I only had to delete the BTMM keys on all affected machines, not the entries for the remote device. I restarted all machines, selected BTMM on iCloud System Preferences on all machines (which had been unselected when the keys were deleted, and restarted all machines a second time.

I have been able to access all machines during this problem using Team Viewer. But Team Viewer did not allow me to move files directly from machine to machine like BTMM does. Very glad to have this working again. Thanks.

I also deleted all BTMM entries on all machines and rebooted. It has worked so far but it did have one hiccup for about 15 minutes when I could not see the remote machine, this typically occurs now whenever I disconnect and try to reconnect within a few minutes. That is, cannot see the remote machine in my finder window. I will let everyone know if I can still login tomorrow but from past experiences it will still be intermittent and eventually locks up preventing remote login until all computers involved are rebooted

Accidentally I might have bumped into a solution (and possibly the root cause).

1) Go to you shared connections in the left bar of the finder window

2) Click on "All"

3) Double click on the Mac Mini (or any other mac you want to connect to)

4) In the top-right corner, click "Share Screen"

5) In my case, I did see the desktop of my Mac Mini (while connecting via the VNC did not work) and was able to have control immediately

6) Done.

I know wanted to see if something was wrong and apparently, for some reason, yosemite changed the name of my "mac-mini.local" into "mac-mini-2.local".. no wonder why it wouldn't let me connect via the VNC command. I disconnected and ran the VNC command, now using mac-mini-2.local. And guess what? It worked.

Hope this helps you guys...
