4k at 60Hz Via Displayport on Late 2014 Mac Mini

The tech specs aren't very clear about the new Mac Mini's 4k support.

Via HDMI, 4096x2160 resolution is supported at 24Hz or 30Hz. I understand that.

But what about the Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort? Technically, shouldn't that allow 4096x2160 at 60Hz via DisplayPort 1.2? As far as I can tell, from looking at the Intel Iris 5000 spec page on the intel site, the video card can drive a 4k display at 60Hz. So the hardware seems to all support it, so far as I can tell. But the tech specs page lists "Support for up to two displays at 2560 by 1600 pixels, both at millions of colors" for the Displayport.

Does anyone know for sure what level of support (30Hz or 60Hz) can be achieved using the DisplayPort?

Thanks!

rodr1go, Any success on that attempt? We have a rMBP and a P2715Q with the vendor cable that should support this, and thus far we're seeing 30hz.

WORKS with 4k samsung monitor and mini dp - dp cable

with HDMI i only get 30hz on 3840x2160 and 60hz only for 2560x1440, i switched to mini display port - displayport inserted in thunderbolt slot, now i only get a max resolution of 2560x1440 but is on 60hz, all other resolutions, lower ones are also on 60hz, in game resolution shows 60hz now.

There is a work around if you use a Monitor that has PIP/PBP Mode. Connect two cables two it. This will make Mini think it has two displays connected to it. at 960 x 1080 HiDPI or 1920 x 2160 at 60hz. Windows can be fit across both Desktops giving 4k at 60hz. I currently use Display Port and HDMI but I think 2 x Display port would be better.

This proves that it is not a graphics card limitation. Would multiple cable lower the stress on the graphics card I doubt it still one card doing the same work.
