Yosemite Driver for Canon LBP 2900

Hi there,

Now that Yosemite has been installed and working well, I am left with a non-functional Canon LBP2900. On Mavericks, it worked well with the patch but seems it doesn't carry across to the new OS. I have reset my printer settings and re-patched the system as per Mavericks but no joy.

Any tips? or lots of printers going into the bin!!!

Regards

I finally solved the problem.

1. Delete your printer in Printers and scanners preferences.

2. Restart computer.

3. Download and install the following driver (version 3.67 has just been released for Yosemite): http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html

4. Restart computer.

5. Download and install the patch appearing at step 3 on this page: http://macdaily.me/howto/how-to-install-canon-lbp2900-on-mac-os-x-mavericks/

6. Restart computer.

7. Connect the printer with USB, add the driver in Printers and scanners preferences, select the appropriate driver.

8. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I wanted to try what you've suggested... but I am getting a message that a newer version is already installed and is not letting me install the 3.80. I had installed the 3.85 but it did not work with the patch. And now I cannot downgrade to a lower driver version... I have manually deleted all the folders containing the Canon drivers as described on help forums online... but still no luck. Can you help me remove the newer version so I can try the 3.80 plus the patch?

Let me know what and where to delete manually so I can get rid of the traces of the CAPT driver.

Thanks a lot.

Hi jafartall,

I was having this very same problem with printing on my LBP 2900 ever since I updated to Yosemite. Essentially print commands were going to the printer, the print queue was opening up and eventually after about 2 to 3 minutes, the queue would reset to zero as if the document had finished printing with absolutely no movement or action taking place at the printer.

But thanks to your instructions and the driver and patch links, my printer's back to beautiful working order!

Thanks you very much!

Hi all:

I followed Illuzi suggested steps one-by-one, rebooting after each one step, but still getting issues

Printer seams to be properly installed but not printing.

Printer is available for printing as soon as you select any printable document (i.e.: from Safari, or TextEdit)

I can click print button, ...

Then, document is sent to printer ...

I open the Printer.app icon at the lock bar ...

Progress messages are appearing

.- Ready for pinting ...

.- Printing - Sending Data to printer

And it keeps at this state forever. Nothing happens.

I'm using Yosemite in Spanish for more information.

May someone suggest me how to move forward?

What else can I double check in order to be success?

Regards.

Same problem as molinatrix.

I followed all the instructions in this post, as well as this one: http://www.applephoon.com/Cant-print-with-canon-LBP3250-1082-and-C-thread-79207- 1-1.html

However, my problem persists. Every time I print, the printing action goes on for a couple minutes, before telling me "can't connect to CCPD, operation time out".

I am on OS X 10.10.2 now, and using Canon LBP3000. Phone calls to Canon service people have not produced any helpful clues.

Any idea what I shall do at this point? Are Canon printers incompatible with Mac computers? Should I buy a new computer? Any suggestions which brand is more Mac-friendly?

Thanks!!!
