I have a 2013 MacBook Pro. I live in the United States.
Spotlight simply will not search the web or show Bing search results. All the boxes in spotlight preferences are checked.
When I uncheck everything except Bing result, Spotlight still will not search web or show bing result.
Advice?

I changed the language to English (US). And I'm in the United States.
Web searches now show up--as do Map searches which didn't show up previously. But it's still deficient. For instance, when I search "George Washington," I see no web results.
I can't simply search the web like I used to with the Mavericks spotlight.
I live in Sao Paulo, brazil, I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012).
tested with US settings ( Preferred languages and Region) and then with Brazilian settings too ( Preferred languages and Region).
Same result, 0 results, spotlight seems not able to use web searches..
how apple can issue a new release with a bug like this?
I mean, this integration between internet and spotlight is one of the big features promoted during the keynote!!!!

My language was already set to English and region from Brazil to U.S., no web results at all. Seriously this OS was released incomplete.

Thats exactly what I did. 🙂
Go to terminal and enter:
rm -f ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Spotlight.plist
This will delete the preferences file. Restart your computer and it should work. It did for me.

What region and language have you in chosen in ‘Language' and ‘Region’?
US / English
same issue with me. Could anyone fix it ??
Than you should not have any problems.
Problems are occurring for those of us that live in a non english speaking region. When you live in Italy or Germany or Argentina, in other words a non english and you choose your own region in combination with english as language you get no online results.
But if you choose ‘Germany’ as your region and ‘Germany as your language you will get online results and the problem will be solved.
In short choose the same language as the region you have chosen.Ie. netherlands
Region: France --> Language: France
Region: Netherlands --> Language Dutch
Region: Italy --> Language Italian
And so forth
This will solve the problem
But if you choose Region: Germany --> Language English
You will get no online results
Not true, a lot of people, including myself have been unable to access it either, even in the US. Removing the pref file worked for me (and others) so it's worth trying for you guys too.
Same issue. Perhaps move the Bing web search to the top result? See if that makes a difference.
