Mac will not recognize SD card after installing OS X Yosemite.

I use the SD card slot to upload photographs from my camera into either Aperture 3.0 or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. When the card is inserted, an icon used to appear on the desktop. I could then upload the images on the SD card to either of the programs noted above. After installing Yosemite, inserting the card does not create the icon on the desktop. You can see the SD card in the Disk Utility program, but it is grayed out and you cannot administer any First Aid.

Any help would be very welcome.

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10), SanDisk Ultra 32 GB SD Card.

1. Go to Finder->Preferences->Sidebar and under DEVICES make sure "External Disks" is checked.

2. Launch iPhoto. When I did the card showed up in finder under DEVICES.

This worked for me... (About the SD and SDXC card slot - Apple Support)

I put the card in the slot, but it did not mount. What should I do?

Remove the card and insert it again. Sometimes, if you put the SD card into the slot too slowly, it may not mount properly.

What worked for me (MacBook Pro), after trying a number of different things, was to push the SD card in, then pull the end of the card slightly upwards. This makes the other end of the card tilt down, pressing the contacts onto the inside of the reader. I had to hold it in that position to maintain the connection.

i have 10.10.5 on my 2015 macbook air and i can NO LONGER read my targus crd25 multi card reader. any help?
