iPhoto won't upgrade in Yosemite

I've just updated to OS X Yosemite on my iMac (27-inch, mid 2010 model). I was running 10.6.8 and everything was working fine.

iPhoto is version 9.2.3 and iMovie is version 9.0.4. The App Store won't let me upgrade these apps. I've tried opening from the dock and also the icon in the applications folder. I get the following messages when I try to open iPhoto:

Then when I click on the Search App Store button I get the following message when trying to download the latest version.

What can I do to fix this. I want to be able to access my photos. Thank you.

Another problem. When I roll onto my photos, so all pictures as they should in miniature, BUT one day I first approximately 600 pictures from my photo, and then about 175 from my wife photo. The images have lain down on top of each other so that miniature pictures show one picture but when you open it there will be a completely different picture ( uploade from same day). Same problem in the new program. And same problem when I look picture from the past 12 months or photos. Hope it is understandable, whit help from google translate 🙂

Well if you want to be picky:

You said

iphoto is not a Yosemite app

This is untrue, and I said

There's no such things as a "Yosemite app", iPhoto runs on both Yosemite and El Capitan.

which gives two reasons why what you said was untrue.

Photos is the replacement

This is untrue. As I said

Photos is a different app with different aims and purposes

So, while it covers some of the same territory as iPhoto, it is not a direct replacement for it. It has, as I said, different aims and purposes.

What's even more interesting is the sentence you quote from Wikipedia.

1. It has nothing whatever to say on the question of "Yosemite apps" (whatever they might be) or "replacements", so I'm not sure why you quote it and

2. Its inaccurate. Apple stopped selling iPhoto but they did not remove it from the App Store, and it is available as an update from there for folks who already own iPhoto.

It's a different thing.

Help!
Over the past few days Ive seen there was an update for iPhoto but I could never update it, I saw the same error as described in the OP.

So a few mins ago i decided to see if i could fix the issue in the same way the OP did.

I deleted the iPhoto app in the launchpad area and noticed straight away that the update disappeared from the app store.

The problem is iPhoto cannot be found at all in the app store anymore. So now i have no app at all, can anyone help with this?
