Photo Screen Saver not functioning with Yosemite Upgrade

Mine does this too on 10.10.1, every few weeks it reverts back to NG. So embarrassing, that I got my whole office to switch to Mac, and now stuff like this happens, it's a bit of a joke. I used to love my Mac in the 10.4 days, now it's just my computer.

Seems like even the shuffle option is lost.

Maybe for that a reason another work-around requires a cron to rename the custom pictures located in the NG folder. 😠

I'm also having the same problem. I don't think we should have to create workarounds to fix the problem either. Apple, please fix this.

I spoke to a senior advisor at Apple and a fix is in the works; meanwhile I have spent hoours

on this and there are 2 easy workarouds.

1. Go to System prefernces/ screeen save/ change the time to 30 minutes/ and put in what you want

such as I photo. Works without problem at that shorter time.

2. Stop, and think. Why do you want a screen saver at all ? They were important when we had

CRT monitors and the same image could burn the screen. you can short it off.

Mine is doing the same thing, and its making me crazy.. We love looking at our pictures, National Geographic NOT SO MUCH

Dude, what? The problem is just that, you can't select "iPhoto". So your suggestion of changing the time and then selecting iPhoto is wrong. There's no selection!

Sorry, there is for me. I have a 27" retina desktop and there is a drop down that allows many selections.

Nevertheless, for other Imac users, my system works for me.

For me (and I'm sure many others), I don't use it for its practicality as a "screen saver" as much as I use it as a way to display photos of my family in the office without the clutter of framed photos all over my desk. Anytime I step out of the office for a bit and come back, i have my smiling little ones staring at me, and pics of my wife and I on our cruise. Makes the whole "work" thing more enjoyable when I have a constant reminder of what Im working for 🙂

I thought I had it fixxed, even deleted National Geo. , but today it started with Nat. Geo. and l restored the original

"bug".

Apple knows about this and we who are discussing it are just the tip of the Iceberg. It is a system programming error.

I hope the fix comes soon.

I have the same issue and a workaround for me has been to enable iPhoto background in stead of using screen saver.

The disadvantage is that you have to close/minimize all applications or keep a screen clean from other elements.

...if yosemite wants to use national geographic, don't fight it...replace the pics in the hidden national geographic folder with whatever content you want on your screensaver...then yosemite defaults to your content...
