Mail SMTP (outgoing) does not work after Yosemite upgrade

I have just updated Yosemite on my Mac and MacBook Air and the outgoing mails cannot be sent - the SMTP-connection fails.

It worked fully Ok few seconds before the upgrade was started.

So, I wonder if anyone or Apple can help on getting the Outgoing mails to work again.

The problem is Yosemite both the old 10 & the new 10.10.1 update. Before I had trouble with incoming mail on all my IMAP accounts (Cox.net) and spoke to Apple Support. Their fix was to take the mailboxes offline & then put them back on line and the mail came through each time but I had to do that each time I checked my mail. Everything worked fine on iCloud & Comcast's POP accounts.

Last night I installed 10.10.1 and now all I get is the mail system asking for my password but it never works. The mail program marks each cox account as offline. If I go to the cox web mail, the inbound are there & when I add the account to my iPhone (5S) , they work fine. Noting is wrong with cox since the mail works on the web & IOS 8. The issue is Yosemite. Deleting library info and/or password info is not a fix..............Apple needs to know about this & fix Yosemite Mail Program!!!!!!!!

Denis

Update 10.10.1 didn’t fix the problem with outgoing (SMTP) ports. I can send e-mails just by connecting by Ethernet-Cable and Wifi simultaneously, wich ist no normal behavior at all. I can go to the Internet with only Wifi on, I can even receive e-mails, but I can not send e-mails by only Wifi. We have Godaddy-e-mail-accounts and it is not their problem, because I can send web-based. As well it works at home with Wifi and in some other places but not in the Office with Internet-Provider Movistar. Nevertheless our Windows-Computer in the office work perfectly well, it is the 3 Apple Computers which don’t send e-mails by Wifi only or by cable only.

Choose all the emails from that account's Inbox and make another Mailbox such as Saved from Server or such. Move all the mail to there. Then go to Mail > Preferences and delete that account using the _ button. Then click the + button and add it back again. It will most probably redownload any emails still on your server anyway. This finally was the fix I was looking for and happened the moment I installed the 10.10.1 update. Before that it was a nightmare.

hello everyone.. well I am in mexico city and I have the same problems with my outgoing mail since yosemite!!!

1st of all, I used to repair computers for 10 years so I thought I was able to repair this problem but I just don´t!! I have tried each possibility from this 10 post pages and nothing! So this must be apple issues for sure!

I want you people to know that I am using outlook for mac and that is the only way I can send emails from my domain account for now!!

the last thing I am going to do is to delete my account from the server and try it again.

yosemite is not what I was expecting for months!, it crashes and crashes and It is annoying.

best regards
