Using Yosemite with all latest updates and as I understand it, if I want to share a page, I can choose 'dropbox' from the options. When I do that nothing happens..

I believe that if you want to share anything via dropbox, it has to be uploaded in your dropbox account (your local dropbox folder).
Then you can share the Dropbox link by clicking the option on the specified file in your dropbox folder.

Do you have an account set up with Dropbox? You need to do that before Dropbox will let you share.

I do have an account and had before Yosemite, put photos in. I understood that I could do it directly from the share button (the page symbol with the arrow). Have you tried that to see if yours works??

I updated to 10.10 and dropbox works just fine. But you cannot share anything via dropbox outside your local dropbox folder.
I also do not have an option to share with dropbox if I am not in my local dropbox folder.
