Can you send an audio message to a Android phone and will they be able to lisen to it?

I realize this is an old question, but I ran across it while searching for something else and thought I would make a suggestion. The best way to send an audio message to an Android user from your iPhone is using the Messenger app by Facebook. Alternatively, you could record a voice memo and send it as an attachment. I hope this helps someone. :-)

Hmm, that's strange. Somehow I was able to record and send a message to an Android device directly from the Messages App earlier, but now the mic option is no longer available in the text field.

Can't figure out how it worked then, but is not working now.

MMS has supported audio for a long time now.

I don't believe you can record the messages from within the Message app, however. I believe the workaround would be to use Voice Memo as kaiphone6 suggested.

Not with the Messages app. The option will only appear if you are messaging another iOS user. There may be other apps that will let you do that cross platform. Check the App Store.

Definitely is a way, since I was able to do it. but I can't seem to replicate it now. Very strange.

Earlier as in earlier today? It seems like I remember being able to do it when the feature was first available on the iPhone.. but I haven't had that option for a very long time.

Was this person previously an iPhone user? I'm just curious because I know sometimes it takes a bit for the iPhone to realize a phone number is no longer connected to an iPhone..
