Ricoh MP C2500 not printing after upgrading to Yosemite

I have a Ricoh MP C2500 (installed on my network in the office) that was working perfectly in Mavericks before I upgraded to Yosemite.

I was using the drivers via the Linux Foundation (Foomatic, Ghostprint, PXLmono) and everything was working perfect.

It seems that there has to be an update for these drivers for Yosemite.

The official driver from Ricoh doesn't work, nor has it ever worked because I don't have the PS module for the Ricoh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I have Ricoh Aficio MP 4500 PXL in the Type. When I print, the printer icon in the dock pops up as if everything worked fine, but nothing comes out of the printer, and nothing remains in the queue, nor I find any error message.

Is this a networked printer? You might want to look at the posts right after yours by garyjbirch.

Good morning Matt,

Thanks so much for providing this work around. I began having printing issues with a Ricoh Aficio MP C4502A following my upgrade to Yosemite, but your solution solved the problem. The one thing I missed when applying your fix is that the affected printer must be installed for the patch to be successful; I had uninstalled it while trying to come up with my own work around. Also, I had to use the driver for the Ricoh Aficio MP C4501A, but that has not caused any problems with functionality as far as I can tell. Thanks again for making my printing problems vanish! Have a great day!

God bless,

Bill

Hi,

I am relatively new to Macs, and I am having trouble installing a networked Ricoh Aficio MP C3501 (non-PostScript) printer. It seems the native driver is for PostScript version of this printer only. I am running a new MacBook Air.

When I try to add printer via IP address & connect, I get this message:

"Unable to verify the printer on your network.

Unable to connect to ‘xx.xxx.xx.xx’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"

I have tried the steps here, with no success:

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o#pxlmono_1.6_for_Mac_OS_X_10.3.x_.28Panther.29_-_Mac_OS_X_10.8.x_.28Mountain_L i on.29

I am assuming because of some of the changes made in Yosemite.'

I have tried the fix here, but it wonder if it will only work if you had the printer installed PRIOR to upgrading to Yosemite, and this would repair the "broken connection":

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Chuck

Chuck,

I am far from expert on network printers. What protocol are you trying to use for the printer. I would recommend you try HP JetDirect - Socket. Add the printer even if the computer tells you that it can't verify the printer. After the printer has been added, run the patch I posted. What happens when you try to print after those steps?

Hey Chuck,

I was having a similar issue with our Ricoh Aficio MP C4502A after upgrading to Yosemite. Here's the procedure that worked for me:

  • Follow the procedure that you mentioned (i.e. install pxlmono, foomatic, and ghostscript)
  • Install printer using the LDP protocol and the appropriate non-postscript driver
  • Install / run the patch provided by Matt Broughton

I ran into a problem installing the patch initially because I didn't have the printer installed, so make sure you follow these three steps in order. Good luck!

God bless,

Bill
