Ricoh MP C2500 not printing after upgrading to Yosemite

I have a Ricoh MP C2500 (installed on my network in the office) that was working perfectly in Mavericks before I upgraded to Yosemite.

I was using the drivers via the Linux Foundation (Foomatic, Ghostprint, PXLmono) and everything was working perfect.

It seems that there has to be an update for these drivers for Yosemite.

The official driver from Ricoh doesn't work, nor has it ever worked because I don't have the PS module for the Ricoh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to print on a DP-C265, installed pxlmono, foomatic-rip & ghostscript packages.

From there, I had the "Filter failed" error.

I then found this post, with the CUPS patch, which I tried.

I don't get the "Filter failed" error anymore, but when sending a document to the printer, I can hear the printer getting heated-up, but the document will never get printed.

Any other tip I could use/try ?

I am also on Yosemite.

So...

Which driver did you install, the one from Ricoh or the one from OpenPrinting?

For the script to be of help, you must have Foomatic-Rip, Ghostscript, and the pxlmono/pxlcolor packages from OpenPrinting installed AND you must have added you printer using the appropriate pxlcolor PPD. At the very least, the script is telling you that you do not have added a suitable printer that it can modify.

Hello!

I'm hoping Matt or someone else can help me out. I updated to Yosemite like everyone else and now the Ricoh MP C4500 and C2500 printers we have at work are not printing (Correction: The 2500 printer does say "Kind: Ricoh Aficio MP C2551 PXL" as Matt stated it should. I have yet to try out that printer because it is at a different location, but the provided script seems to have installed correctly.) When I print a document, no errors show up on my Mac or anything, but nothing is printed. I have downloaded the pxlmono, ghostscript, and foomatic packages from LinuxFoundation like everyone else (that's how I first figured out how to print with my mac with older OS's a few years ago).

I have read through your suggestions Matt, here is my info that you have been asking for from other users.

Under Printer & Scanners in the System Preferences:

"Kind: RICOH Aficio MP C4502 PS" - Not PXL as it should with the script.

Latest Edit: When I run Matt's script, I noticed it asks me if "Printer Queue _192_168_0_60 should be modified." That's the IP for my 2500 printer that seems to already be set up properly, again though I have yet to test it as stated above. How can I change it so the script runs on the IP set up for my 4500 printer as well?

Hey Mark,

I was having a similar problem with our Ricoh Aficio MP C4502A. I couldn't seem to get things to work until after I installed the printer. That is, I installed it with the generic driver and then followed Matt's procedure. I had to use the driver for a Ricoh Aficio MP C4501A, but so far I've encountered no problems. Hope this helps. Have a great day!

God bless,

Bill

Hey Mark,

No. I actually used the Generic Post Script Printer driver that is include in Yosemite, but I assume any driver that allows you to complete the printer install would suffice. The issue that seemed to be preventing me from successfully completing Matt's procedure was that the target printer was not installed prior to following the steps Matt provided. I hope that helps. Have a great day!

God bless,

Bill
