Can't sync iphone with new itunes 12.0.1

Just downloaded the new iTunes 12.0.1 and it doesn't let me sync my iPhone 5. I've tried connecting my phone a lot of times but its not recognizing it.

Yeah, I have the same problem. Supposedly you access devices by clicking on the little iPhone icon - except there is no little icon when my iPhone and/or iPad are connected:

View your iOS device by clicking on the iOS device icon in the upper-left corner.

I had the same problem : Reboot both (Mac and iPhone), then put your iPhone on USB, and ITunes will appear and recognize your iPhone with iOS 8.1

Try this: Power OFF your IOS devices. Quit, then restart iTunes. Power on your IOS devices. The connection should be made. Worked with mine and have been having to do it since the IOS8 update.
