OS X Yosemite installation failed

I was attempting a clean install using a USB flash drive. Setting the correct date fixed the issue. Also, if you just type date in the terminal, it will give you the current date. My computer thought it was 2001.

Changing the date worked just fine for me. What a nightmare but it's finally over. Thanks everyone.

Hi all. Could someone please list the steps in how to make this install work, in reference to the success with "Setting the time/date"?

I currently have OS 10.9.5 on a Mid 2010 Mac Mini and have repeatedly failed in upgrading to Yosemite with the error:

"This copy of the install OS X Yosemite application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading"

SOLVED!!!

Removed upgrade RAMs and reinstalled OEMs. Updated OS 10.9.5 to Yosemite with no issues.

Re-installed upgrade RAMs and now works!

The suggestion that others in this thread have had of setting the time worked great. Going into terminal and setting the current date worked perfectly for me. I did NOT have to reinstall the original RAM in the machine.

The system date is incorrect.

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen.

The recovery. Menu appears. go to disk utility. Erase the disc. Back to restore menu, install the system again.

RAM change worked for me. I pulled the 8GB of RAM and put back the original 2GB RAM. BTW, they are exactly the same make (Samsung), and type of RAM, even made in the same month and year. I can't explain why it made a difference. So far I've upgraded 3 Macs (Two Mac Minis and one MacBook Air) to Yosemite. The Macbook Air upgraded flawlessly. The Mac Minis required RAM swap.

In all three, Yosemite has been great, and new features aside, improved performance noticeably. I am very pleased. I have another planned and I'll post results. The next one also has an 8GB upgrade and running Lion 10.7.5.
