text message forwarding code does not show up

I got mine to work finally after an hour. Had to hard reset my phone itself. Left everything closed on my mac and once i clicked the text forwarding option it finally popped up on my mac! Working with just my phone number no emails.

I finally got it working after following the instructions, other than the only thing I did a little different was, after signing out from iCloud on my phone I deleted all the data, then when and disabled iMessage... Then enabled by clicking sign in and used my iCloud.com email address... I think everyone gets one, just is the same as their regular or initial apple id except it ends in @icloud.com signed in, same password as your apple id, now one IMPORTANT thing is, if you have @icloud.com checked on your mac or whatever device, it seems to need it checked on your phone too... So I did that when it was activating iMessage... After that went and activated the text message forwarding and the code popped up right away... 🙂 Am glad and wish I had known this long ago, because I've had the public beta since it came out and then thought it was the beta that had issues the last while... but just apple not being clear enough and most likely some bugs to work through...

just got it to work, turned on "you can be reached for messages at:" and checked my email, for my phone and macbook, then restarted them both and turned on text message forwarding and allll the codes i sent popped up, took a while to get the right one but at least its working now!

The real solution is to go into your Message Settings on your iPhone and make sure your iCloud account(s) are checked off under Send & Receive.

I also had the same issue (mid-2010 MBP with 10.10 and iOS 8.1 on iPhone 5), I also found signing in/out of iCloud on both devices and a few restarts fixed my problem. There needs to be an easier solution for people who wouldn't think to do this, or at least post a support article that can be referred to.

I selected my icloud (or .me) account and it worked flawlessly. Try that!

I GOT IT! Go to setting on both, mac and iphone. Make sure you can "send & receive" iMessages from both options, phone number AND apple ID email

Well, for me it was a matter of enabling the Bonjour Account on the Messages > Preferences. After I enabled it, I got the code showing up (I already had all my emails checked under Send & Receive on my iPhone and all).

It started working for me when I signed out of iMessage on my Mac and my iPhone 6 and my iPad 3 and then signed back in.

Go to Preferences and make sure your phone number is checked under 'You can be reached for messages at:'

It will work smoothly from there.

Thank you! This worked for me. I found that the slider next to my Mac in the Messages/Text Message Forwarding section on my iPhone was set to OFF. As soon as I slid it to ON the code popped up on my Mac and the field for entering the code popped up on my iPhone

My solution was to disable iMessage and enable iMessage again on my iPhone.
