Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Can't seem to setup apple pay. Have tried both in settings and passbook. I get the same error.
"Could Not Set Up Apple Pay
An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay"
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I have re started the phone twice, nothing. Same error. Can't get pass the "Add Credit or Debit Card" link.

I get the exact same error. I've tried several times. One time it did prompt me for password for my apple id, but then came back with the same error message above. All other times, it gave me the error message without even asking for my password.

I had the same error and simply turned wifi off and used LTE (or 3g/4g) and the issue fixed itself
I just tried and turning off wifi did not fix the problem. Still getting the error message

I reset phone and restored as new and it worked after that. Seems to always be Apple's solution to every issue I've ever had so I thought might as well try that since that is what they will tell me to do anyway. It worked.
Logging out and back in to iCloud worked for me. No full restore required.
Same issue. It kept asking me for my password, and even saying incorrect password when my password was correct. Restarted iphone and it resolved itself.
Got the same error. Logged out of and back into iCloud AND turned off wifi and it worked. Had to turn wifi back on to verify card -- go figure. (The iCloud signoff/signin is probably the key.)
I also could not set up Apple Pay. I've been trying for 3 days but no luck. I signed out and in icloud, turned off or on wifi, and restarted the phone many, many time, but none of the suggested methods work. I wonder if Apple is going to provide another update to fix this annoying problem. The feature is supposed to make our lives easier, not harder.
I have two different email addresses for my iCloud and iTunes accounts, and the email I used for my iCloud was never set up for iTunes. After I signed out my iTunes account and signed in using the same email as my iCloud account, I was finally able to set up Apple Pay. I can see this can be a common problem for many people like me, Apple needs to provide an update to fix this bug.
Sign out of iCloud and back in also make sure region is set to United States, in settings>general>Language/region
Clock all app and log out of iCloud and sign back in then try to set up Apple pay again.
Signing out of iCloud and signing back in worked for me.
I am getting same error. Tried logging off and on from iCloud. Restarted the Wifi and Moble Data. No luck.
Raised the case with Apple support and waiting for the solution for 5 days, still no luck :-(
I don't want to factory reset my phone.
