safari iOS 8.1 freeze and slow

Hello,

i have same problems with ios 8.1 with my Ipad3. when the Google search shows me the results, the blue links does not respond when I tap. Safari was as if frozen. I have to drag the page up or down so that the link becomes active again. Further the application is very slow. Today I tried iPad Air it was same thing !!!!

the problem persists since updating iOS8.0.0. I am very disappointed with Apple.

Installed 8.1.1 as a complete clean setup, no backup or restore so totally out of the box. I haven't installed anything at all that Apple doesn't install as default and I have to say that it is much better.

Speed tests are good over wifi, cut and paste is fixed, no lookups as yet, keyboard is responsive, just need to check some websites that were causing a problem. Router is an Apple Extreme latest firmware.

Only other actions were:

Turned off keyboard clicks

Cleared History and Website Data in Safari

Turn off and back on again

I was having all the usual problems.

It's just a shame it happened in the first place and that it took so long to fix it. Acknowledgement would have been appreciated.

The early results suggest we have a winner. Apple doesn't acknowledge problems, but is pretty good about fixing them once they have a handle on what the problems are. So, in this case, 60 days from date of release to date of fix. For some, 60 long days... but better than them simply saying they no longer support old hardware. That'll be iOS9, so act accordingly!

As noted by previous member postings -

As an exercise, disabling JavaScript in Settings>Safari>JavaScript resurrects Safari's pre iOS 8.x speed, but page layouts are cranky, for obvious reasons!.

Now, pre iOS 8.x all third party browsers were so much slower than Safari because Apple wouldn't allow them access to their "Nitro" JavaScript engine. That all changed in June of this year with Apple announcing they would allow others to use Nitro in iOS 8.x

I know what my conclusion is of that!

Since I can get no support, replies or solutions from Apple Corp. through standard venues (i.e. "feedback"), I'm going to start writing to Tim Cook directly. Everyday. Five times per day. I don't yet know a proper address, but he has a Twitter account. What if everyday.....nay; five times per day, he got 10,000 complaints from us about his operating system? Do you think he might start looking into the problem? Let's all start now:

That's good news. I've been out of commission for a day (had all the symptoms of Ebola except one), so I missed the update, but I don't anticipate seeing anything different since everything worked fine for me with iOS 8.1.

AND ... I've always let people know that Apple doesn't "wring its hands to the media" ... Apple instead, does the best thing that it should do, and that is to issue fixes for troubles it has, been able to identify as related to the iOS.

I Have an ipad2 and have been following along with all of these posts as I was experiencing the exact issues as others described. I love my iPad and the update to the 8's has made it a ghost of its former self.

I Updated to 8.1.1 this morning and so far the responsiveness seems to have improved.

BUt....see that? I now randomly get the double capital letter (which I didn't have before)

and my main issue - which was the text box being obscured by the keyboard while typing a message or a post - has not been fixed.

I Tested (I did not capitalize tested lol) chrome for my obscured text box issue and it does not happen in chrome.

First impressions favourable with 8.1.1 on my iPad Air 1. Links are responsive on first click without having to scroll the page up or down a little. Feels a bit faster too. I did a simple update through Settings, not a full backup/restroe thru iTunes. I haven't cleared history data or anything else either.

Good of to hear your positive results. This shows Apple has been working hard on fixes, taking in all the Apple Support information, to find out what the problems are!

NNo progress . Safari is worse than before.

Different models act in different ways with revisions and updates. What model is yours and is it WiFi or cellular, too. Also, what version of iOS 8 did you have before, and also, did you do this on your iPad or on iTunes on your desktop computer? These are all factors which can possibly produce varying results.
