iOS 8.1 wifi hotspot - can't connect anymore.

I upgraded to IOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus today, after upgrading my Mac to Yosemite. I'm on Sprint.

Now, when I try to access my WIFI hotspot, with the right password, it tries to connect, then shakes and can't connect. It worked fine under IOS 8.0.2 this morning.

Anybody else seeing this problem? Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Ron

İ have this problem too. i searched net and proceed to all solutions that i found.

i just restored my iphone 6+ to the factory settings.(8.1.1 was)

Then i tried to tethering with my asus zenbook. Walaaa İt has worked. The thing is (i think)

İt is because of the my default phone name. Because after that i backed up my phone,

problem appeared again. İ changed my phone name to the default name ;

problem diseppeared again and worked. İ met this problem many manyi times with my 4 yerad old

iphone 4 and still i cant believe APPLE didnt solve this OS problem. Really i used android phones too.

They were better with tethering then İOS. İts a big problem. Because after work i came my home and wana use my tethering

internet via my zenbook and wasting my time to solve this nonses chronical problem like APPLE engineer.

I also found my hotspot stopped working when i upgraded to iphone 6. I called AT&T and we ended up with this situation that works for me (on both my windows8 and windows 7 laptop computers) :

1. make sure your security settings and key on the phone and the computer match each other ( on the computer, you can find them through the control panel).

2.In the settings on your phone, turn off hotspot.

3. turn off wifi on your phone.

4. Then turn on hotspot on the phone. When you get a message asking whether you want wifi turned on, say yes to that message (do NOT go back to the separate wifi settings for the phone).

5. look for your phone's name on your wifi connections on the computer - you may have to refresh several times to find the phone.

6. connect to the phone's wifi on the computer.

7. When you're done using the phone as a hotspot, go back to the phone settings and turn off hotspot. Then turn wifi back on in the phone's settings.

I ran into this issue when I switched from a 4S to a 5S. I thought it was just the fact that I was on a 5S. I'm with Metro PCS and I've always been able to tether to mobile devices for free. My issue was resolved simply by changing the name of my iPhone "Tech's iPhone" to "phone". I'm pretty sure you can change it to w/e u want, I just put "phone" cause that was quick to do. After I changed the name of the phone, I rebooted by holding down the power and home buttons.
