iOS 8.1 - Keyboard Shortcuts: Restores Previously Deleted Keyboard Shortcuts

At random times when I go into the Keyboard Settings on my Mac (Yosemite) or iPhone (iOS 8.1) the Keyboard Shortcuts I have deleted since iOS 7 keep coming back and syncing between my iPhone and Mac. Just yesterday I deleted them from 8.1 and Yosemite but today they are back. I deleted all of the ones on my Mac but those changes don't sync over to my iPhone.

There should be a way to disable keyboard shortcuts and fix this bug.

Wish they would hurry up and sort this. Some joker changed the word "home" for the word "pe*is" and it's driving me crazy. Have to be constantly careful when texting clients about their home page (I'm a web designer) and didn't check the other day and texted daughter saying that I'd put dinner in as soon as I got home. Caused uproar! Please Apple... Hurry up and fix!!!

Go to this link: I cannot delete iPhone keyboard shortcuts. They keep restoring. Click on page 18. I have consolidated the solution into one post. The original "solution" that was posted by Chris works for most people, but didn't for me (or you) . This was because I had yet another file that he didn't have dating back to 2013. Many others have found that they have that same file and it is another one containing the zombie shortcuts. Follow the revised solution on page 18 and you'll be free of the zombies for good. If you're really in the mood to be entertained you can read that whole string to see how we got to the solution. Good luck!

NEW INFORMATION and POSSIBLE COMPLETE AND TOTAL FIX FROM APPLE --

Well, I've been here in this thread too long (see previous posts) and have stubbornly (and perhaps foolishly) refused to use the 3rd-party solution.

However --

After months of calling Apple, amounting to countless hours for wasted time on the phone, having been passed through no fewer than a dozen Senior Technical Advisors, and after having gone up to Mt. Olympus to ENGINEERING twice, the case was finally passed to an even higher power: THE DEVELOPERS. (everyone say: ooooooooo!...)

What I could not do, what no Advisor could do, and what the first set of ENGINEERS failed to do the first time, THE DEVELOPERS have apparently done. And here's the solution:

Get an Android.

Had to do that, sorry.

No, seriously. Here it is:

Get Apple tech front-end on the phone. Get him/her to "escalate" your case to a Senior Technical Advisor. Don't back down and let the ever-helpful, ever-earnest tech to try to fix it: s/he can't. Don't back down. Get to a Senior Tech, then get that person to work with you to have the ENGINEERS put your account Apple ID into "test mode" (allows them into your account and requires that you let Apple set a temporary password, which you can change when the account is released from test; no apparent risks or mischief). Advise the Senior Tech that the ENGINEERS will need to engage THE DEVELOPERS (dum-dum-DUM). The exalted DEVELOPERS will need to go into your User ID and remove the shortcut file. Once removed, you'll sign in and out of your Apple ID on each device, and voila! No Zombies.

Duh.

It's now been done on both my iPad, and I will -- obviously -- be keeping a sharp eye out for ghosts, vampires, Bill Murray, Glenn Close, the Walking Dead, Spinal Tap, those Grateful guys who play guitars, the random phoenix, soap opera stars who successfully renegotiated their contracts, and anyone who is fluent in Manx. Will report back. I hope I do not eat my words.

I have found a very simple fix for this!

1). Open Settings>General>Keyboard

2). Delete the keyboard shortcuts that you do not want

3). Go back and open Settings>General>Reset

4). Select 'Reset Network Settings' (you will not lose any data but you will have to re-enter your wifi password)

5). After this, I did a backup too but it isn't necessary

It has been 24 hours since I have deleted the shortcuts and they have not comeback. (Used to come back after 15 minutes so I think its safe to say it's fixed)

This issue has really been annoying me for a long while now so I hope this fixes it for you🙂

I was having the same problem but did find an easy solution that has seemed to work. I went in and deleted the shortcuts I didn't want on my iMac, and then I went in at the same time and deleted the shortcuts that I didn't want on my iPad. With both having the same shortcuts, they seemed to actually stay the way I wanted them. Originally, I had only been updating them on my iMac. That should connect to the iPad, but it didn't seem to correctly.
