Nvidia CUDA drivers says it needs an update but says no update available

I am trying to update the driver for my NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for my 2008 Mac Pro. It says that I need to install a new CUDA driver, but it says there are no newer versions available. I went to the Nvidia website and downloaded and installed the driver manually, but the only one it seems to update is the GPU driver.

I am trying to edit in Premier Pro but I'm unable to use the CUDA driver, which is going to suck when I render out this 45 minute wedding.

Any solutions to this, or am I SOL?

The "Update Required" can be eliminated under Cuda 6.5.33 / 10.1.43 (343.02.01f01) - running on a Mac3,1/GTX660Ti - by editing your info.plist file inside

Frameworks>CUDA.Frameworks>Versions>A>Resources>info.plist

by adding:

<key>343.02.01</key>

<string>343.02.01</string>

-> SAVE -> Reboot

double check if CUDA is running via TERMINAL:

kextstat | grep -i cuda

"Update Required" eliminated.

So I'm getting the same bizarre message after updating to CUDA Driver Version: 7.0.36. In system preferences it's telling me there is a new driver available yet the version it's referring to is 6.5.51!!! When I open Premiere Pro 2015 it tells me there is no CUDA present. What the heck is going on? Using an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 card on a 2010, MacPro, 10.10.4

When I install the CUDA 6.5.51 driver I get this,

It seems to me that Nvidia's installation procedure is messed up. I had CUDA version 7.0.36 installed and when I went to the CUDA Preferences, it told me there is a new driver version. I clicked on the Install CUDA Update button and it downloaded version 6.5.51!!! Then I went to their web page with all the CUDA drivers and found version 7.0.64 for Mac, which I downloaded and installed. Guess what? The CUDA Preferences window tells me that there is a CUDA Driver Update 6.5.51!!!! But it doesn't show the red letters saying "Update Required"

Interesting how it keeps suggesting 6.5.51 when the latest version is 7.0.64!!!

Oh yes, I am using a MacPro 1,1 with Yosemite and a 8800GT card.

Hello, I'm new to here and In a bit of a hurry, so i've quickly glanced over this thread whilst doing some research,

Ive a Mac 3,1 with GTX285 ,osx10.10.5 and after updating to Cuda driver 7, and rebooting it tells me there is an update available and it takes back to 6.5.51.

Well from my quick research I'm suggesting that the compute capability of my GTx285 is not supported in the newer versions so it returns to Cuda driver 6.5 as my last supported drivers, I've noticed some of you have GT8800 and Quadro 4000, (are they different to the newer K4000?) with this issue.. any way Hope I may have helped

and appologies if I've missed this info in previous posts, I'm on a deadline..

Hers a link to the charts on the Compute capbility

Same problem here...

Mac Pro 2010 / 5.1, gti 980 ti, web driver 367.15.10.15f01, cuda 8.0.46.

Since upgrading from osx 10.12.0 to 10.12.1 the cuda control says "update required", but "no newer cuda driver available". On 10.12.0 there was no problem.

metal framework is broken too, "raining cubes" screensafer is not working. corrected: metal and raining cubes are working.

It is a general problem, either caused by apple or by nvidia.

But, world is somewhere between weird and funny, cuda-z is working.

greetings from germany

Chris
