iOS 8.1: battery drain on iPhone 6 Plus

Have the same problem on iPhone 5s.

After update I went to sleep, on next morning battery was dead.

I've charged phone to 50%. And while driving to work it drops to 30%, I did not use it at all!

Please fix this issue!

I am facing the same battery drain problems too. When it was on 8.0.2 out of the box the battery was great. It drains so quickly now even when I'm just reading on safari. I've turned many location based stuff off as well which I did not have to prior to the update. **** this is disappointing.

Have same issue with my iphone 6 plus 64gb. every 1% battery can only hold 6min while i am ONLY read digital books.

same issues,the iPhone 6 plus battery life is the only reason for me getting it, now it ***** big time.i am able to keep approx 70-80% battery life before noon, now after 2 hrs i am down 30%

That crazy, safari and Home & Lock Screen consummate most of battery!

ios 8.1 eat battery much faster then ios 7.1.2... even if turn off background updates, all other services. It is very sad... i am just reading remainders on minimum brightness and it takes 1% per 4-5 minutes... Worst case if I turn on wifi...

Even more ios 8.1. on my iphone 5s eat battery much faster then my 3 years old galaxy s2 when playing youtube video. Its not funny... Apple please do something.

Yet ine thing. Some times battert percents drops more than one percent a time. From 61 to 59. No 60.

SAME PROBLEM THERE.... I have iPhone 5S and after iOS 8.1 Update is my Battery is a catastrophe today.. Apple You are a Saboteur and you sabotage your Older Device... When we get a IOS version without problems???? Your quality goes down. I miss my iOS 7... Why you Lock always older Ios Versions ???? YOU MUST signing the older iOS Versions. Because YOUR UPDATES don't solved the Issues , but makes it even worse. You Sabotage the older Device , because we need to buy a new iPhone ??? You are so intelligent. Either stop the Sabotoge to your devices or never LOCK THE OLDER IOS VERSION.... You are NO MORE BETTER after Steve Jobs.. **** you Apple. We to be to shame with our money...

If Apple not fix battery drain problem I will never buy it any device again!

same issue here, draining in realtime actually. Turned off all of the location services, no handoff , no background app refresh and auto udpdate at all. Tried to set up as a new phone....nothing helps. Very disappointing, as I transfored my iPhone to a low cost device and its still killing my battery. (drained 2% during this entry) please Apple fix this very embarrassing issue ASAP!

You should try streaming videos. YouTube does 1% per minute with half brightness and half volume. Most location services and hand-off turned off too. No Bluetooth just WiFi with all background apps closed. Every thing I could think of that could be a factor. Writing this short comment took 2%. Ridiculous. It's there anyway I can revert to 8.0.2? I'm on iPhone 6 Plus 64gb.

In most cases the problems when switching to a new iOS version are (as I had with my switch from iOS6 > iOS7):

- rogue app process (app not updated yet to iOS8/8.1) check Settings > General > Usage > Battery usage in percentage to determine which app is using much more battery although you haven't used it at all or much.

- settings in e-mail receiving is changed

- background app refresh (turn it off if you do not need it)

- location services (look carefully which apps you want to use this feature)

- notifications (look carefully which apps you want to use this feature)

- Facebook app

What baffles me is that I've got exact same settings and preferences before and after the update. So why would it drain so much quicker now? Battery life was one of the main reasons why I got the plus. Hopefully Apple can come up with a fix soon instead of having iPhone users turn off this and that function just so the battery would last.

Nevertheless, it's a good article indeed. Will temporarily try out those fixes and see if they work. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
