Airdrop from ios 8 to Yosemite laptop not working

I have a 5S iPhone with iOS 8.1 installed, a Macbook Pro laptop (mid 2012) with Yosemite installed. I can send via airdrop from my computer to iPhone, but if I try to do it the other way, nothing shows up on my iPhone for airdrop. Bluetooth is on both devices, I have airdrop in the finder on my computer and activated on my iPhone. I have restarted my iPhone.

Any suggestions??

Hello, same problem: Using Yosemite 10.10.1, MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012).

So I finally went to system preferences, security & privacy, firewall, firewall options, then scroll down in all the files in the middle window, go to "sharingd" and change to "Allow Incoming Connections" After that, I can now see my macbook pro retina on my iphone 6 in the airdrop option for photos and such. Hope that helps!

Sending file from iPhone 5s to MacbookPro is failed. My iPhone 5s (8.1.2) usually cannot detect the airdrop of my MacbookPro (2012 mid, Yosemite), both devices are set to "discovered by everyone", and I found one SOLUTION for this problem.

When everything is set > click on Bluetooth icon (on Mac) on the menu bar > select Open Bluetooth Preferences > Do nothing and wait > Select one photo on your iPhone > Your Mac icon appear > File sent.

You guys will not believe how I got mine to work. I have been ****** off the past few months because I haven't gotten airdrop to work between my iphone and mac. Sometimes it would work only one way and other times none at all. Well, what I discovered is that I can't send files from the mac to my iphone when I have my phone on do not disturb. I discovered this because I was turning the airdrop feature on and off on my phone to see if it would reset something and I accidentally clicked the moon icon and voila my iphone showed up on my airdrop screen on the mac. However, my phone still couldn't see my mac so I was like, there's no do not disturb feature on the mac. So just out of nowhere it occurred to me to check my imessage account and saw that I had it on offline. I changed it to current itunes song, and boom my mac showed up on airdrop on my phone! Now I did test this out and when I put my phone back on do not disturb, it would disappear from airdrop. However, when I changed my imessage status on my mac to offline, the mac still showed up on my phone. All I know is that this is how I got mine to work. I had already tried the signing in and out of icloud, restarting both devices, etc and nothing worked. I only figured this trick out by accident lol. Reply if anyone gets it to work this way.
