i am having same issue, getting stuck at 440 photos, i have tried turning the photo library off and a message appears readin "4 of your photos are of high resolution and will not upload to iCloud, would you like to delete these photos?" , so of course i click remove, so that the rest of the library can continue uploading. However, when i go to photo library again the upload is stopping at exactly the same point! anybody know how i can identify which 4 pictures are the high resolution ones, then i can delete them manually?

i think the answer might help a few others aswell, as we all seem to be having the same problem!

(v 1.0) Tried reloading the Photo Library but the same 5 pictures are stuck

5 pictures has been stuck on my iMac for three weeks. I have tried most of the solutions offered in this tread and nothing has worked so far. Last attempt was to "uncheck" the Photo Library option, wait some minutes, and then recheck. You get some message saying that your iCloud will run full and it seams like Photos starts uploading everything from start all over but it actually does not duplicate your pictures. After a night "uploading", I am back to normal including the 5 photos stuck in uploading.

I have imported more pictures after the problem occurred and everything seems to work fine, syncing with all my devices through iCloud. I'll try to learn to live with my 5 stuck pictures til Apple figure out the problem.

If anyone from Apple reads this:

- My problem started while importing from my camera and background uploading to iCloud. I deleted some of the pictures and even cleared the recently deleted pictures folder while the same pictures was in uploading to iCloud. This was apparently too much to handle or unforeseen by the code.

I've had a lot of problems with my iPhone getting stuck uploading photos. At one point, 8 days went by and none of the pictures I took were syncing to iCloud.

My library is around 35,000 photos. I tried turning off iCloud Photo Library in Settings/Pohtos & Camera then turning it back on. That caused nothing but headaches...the phone took days trying to resync saying "processing 35,000 Items" over and over. It would sync a bunch of photos only to delete them and start over. Finally, I did the Atomic Bomb approach and reset the phone back to factory settings and restored a backup from iCloud. Within a few hours, the library returned and was syncing normally.

So I though, good, problem solved. A week later, same issue returned. Reset again. Fixed. Then today, problem is back again. Not fun!

A Possible Cause?

I did notice the syncing problem seems to be triggered shortly after I've downloaded a photo from my camera using WiFi then tried a quick edit within the photos app. After I finished my touchup, I watched as Photos tried to then upload it...then went to my iPad and saw a blank file that never downloaded (got the blank icloud photo icon...corrupt photo?).

This happened twice. In another case, it happened after I took a photo with my phone then tried a quick edit.

Looks like a bug. Called Apple and they're looking into it.

One thing to try:

In my last attempt, I was able to delete the corrupt file from my iPad then the iPhone started to sync again. However, right now, I see it's "processing 35,000 photos" again and 1 photo refuses to upload still.

Quick Update:

Deleting the corrupt file then going to the "recently deleted" section of Photos and deleting it again (like emptying the trash so to speak) seems to have worked.

It took a few minutes but the sync seems to have returned to normal. The "1 photo to upload" message is gone and now it says "last updated 5mn ago" and everything looks current. I took a few pictures on my iPhone and they synced back to my iPad and Mac normally. I didn't need to reset this time.

While not a fix and I'm sure it won't work for everyone, if you're having a similar problem, might be worth a try. See if you can find the root of any files that haven't completely synced. Delete them on the device they we're taken, then go to "recently deleted" and clear them out of the system. Give it some time and see if the sync returns to normal.

Keep you posted on my results.

I downgraded my icloud account for photos to less than 5Gigs, free. Then downloaded all my pics to an external drive. I the uploaded only 66 pic to the icloud, and there is where I gut stuck. the pics were on the cloud seen from iphone ipad and mac, but from my Macbook air, it kept tryng to upload the 10 thousand pics I used to have. Stuck there for days.

Solution was to delete the exisiting empty albums. and start from scratch. Worked. Now I can upload to the cloud for free, enught pics not to go over the 5 gigs we get for free.
