No pictures are shown in Message om Mac

After update to Yosemite. When receiving SMS or iMessage with af picture, the picture are not shown

What is shown ?

If it is an icon does it launch Preview app ?

Does anything appear in the File transfer window (See the Window Menu or Messages) ?

Hi,


That suggests that the Ownership of the original file had been lost/changed and deleting it and creating anew one gave you Ownership and Permission to Write to to the Folder.

Thanks for the extra info. That make more sense.

I am not sure how the original folder got corrupted during the update to become a File instead of the Folder.

Hi,


I don't know if you have had Macs long enough to remember when you had Install Disks and could open the Installer and chose Archive and Install as opposed to Erase and Install.


The Current Restore (Restart the Computer holding down CMD + R) allows you to do the same thing.

A basic Restore reinstalls the OS over what you have leaving the User(s) info alone (like an Archive and Install used to do).


You can elect to do a Fresh Install which would Erase the Drive first (not what you want unless you have a Back up to Reinstall the User info afterwards).


After the Reinstall I would Open Disk Utility on the Mac (Applications/Utilities) and run the Repair Permission option in the First Aid part.
