AFter downloading the new I tunes 12, I am having problems with retrieving cd info, and get a message " user not registered for online use" I am using windows vista but never had a problem with iTunes 11

with a mac: I quit iTunes, deleted two files (iTunes.plist and gracenote.plist in Finder>Go>Library>User>'user name'>Preferences) and reinstalled the newest version of iTunes, restarted the computer and then when I opened iTunes it worked, but I too had to click Options>Get Track Names. Works for me!

Thank you hhgttg27, Iv been trying to sort this problem for months & been really annoying as havent been able to put my new albums on my iPod. By deleting the file iTunes prefs.xml sorted the problem for me 🙂 thank you
In the library directory look for a preferences directory. The files will be in there.

This worked for me:
Closed iTunes
Dragged com.apple.iTunes.plist to trash
Started iTunes
This path is not available on Windows 10. How do you fix it in Windows 10?
The appdata folder should be in the same place on Windows 10. It is a hidden folder, but if you type in the path you should get there, or enable hidden files and folders, or start by typing in %appdata% to get the current user's Roaming folder and work from there.
