Using an Epson Stylus Color 740 and wondering if I can upgrade?

Hello,

I'm using OS 10.6.8 in order to use an older Epson Stylus 740 Color printer. It's a back printer but it still works great. I'd like to upgrade to Yosemite but haven't because I don't want to lose functionality of this printer. Is it possible to upgrade and still use this old printer?

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

When you upgrade to Yosemite your printer you will have an upgrade from App Store which you will download. I did this with Mavericks and upgraded my printers this way. I went from 10.6.8 to Mavericks. Got new iMac 27" so I had to. There is no longer Epson Printer Utility3 so must use control panel in printer for maintenance. You can no longer download drivers from Epson.com. Check with their tech. support before you upgrade by e-mail you'll get an answer to all your question in a day. I did.
