My neighbours Apple TV's are showing up in my AirPlay menu.

This started about a month ago. My neighbours Apple TV's are showing up in my AirPlay menu. I have WPA2 and no Guest Network. I just changed the password and I am still seeing them. I have updated and reset the Apple TV, it's hardwired through ethernet. My neighbours Apple Tv's only show up on devices with wifi on. For example, when I turn WiFi on my mac off (its hardwired) I don't see them. As soon as I turn wifi back on, they show up again. So on my iPad and iPhone, I always see them. I am on Yosemite and iOS 8.1. Apple Tv and airport extreme are newest as well.

Hi kula_shakur. As you can read in this thread, Apple devices can now see nearby Apple TVs using Bluetooth. If you turn off Bluetooth on your device, you will no longer see them. If you require Bluetooth, be sure to select your audio device, not the neighbor's Apple TV, from the Control Center. If you have iOS 10, you need to swipe left in Control Center to see the list. If you have an Apple TV, give it a distinctive name, so you (and your neighbors) won't select the wrong one by accident. There's not much else a user can do at this time. You can use this link: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ to report your problems to Apple.

I had the same problem and I think the reason is quite simple: you do not have other people using your Wifi, or your computer is not using some else's wifi. There is simply another Wifi network around you that has no password requirement and your Apple device is just scanning that network for devices, and is finding some.

I don't like this feature but it's quite in line with Apple trying to make everything as easy as possible for the user. I guess I will have to visit my neighbour tomorrow and tell him to lock down his Wifi, which anyone should always do no matter what.

I don't have Apple TV but my neighbor does. I live in a townhome. Both my iPad and iPhone pick up the neighbors apple TV. Its only a problem when I want to use my bluetooth hearing aids to listen to media on my devices. I get a pop up window asking for the passcode. Its quite annoying because it continues to pop up and not go away even though I click cancel. How can I get rid of it or block its signal?

I am seeing unfamiliar devices and i wonder if mine are showing up on the neighbors too.

Can i turn off all sharing? i dont see any settings on my ipad for allowing or disallowing airplay or airdrop or whatever it is called. i dont want others to tune into my devices.

If i swipe up i see "ipad" and "boob tube" but is that my ipad listing itself? What is "boob tube" i never named anything that. And have never tried to play to my tv. :(

People are only trying to help, no need for your little tantrum.

You can avoid being disturbed by your neighbours by using a password, you can ignore your neighbours Apple TV's when you AirPlay to yours, it's not rocket science nor is it unusual, it's just like when you connect to wifi, there is no way to hide all the networks that you aren't interested in. Perhaps if you thought for even just a few seconds before starting a rant you might realise how silly what you seem to want really is.
