illustrator CS4 plugin problem after upgrade to OS X Yosemite
Photoshop no longer works in harmony with Ilustrator. Can no longer link a PSD to an ai file, any ideas. A quick fix would be appreciated as this is not good!

While freelancing, this 2016, I came across the very same issue working at a particular company.
Strange to me, they were running OS X 10.11.1 and had only Adobe CS4 installed.
Lots of issues. No file support to drag and drop other than .JPEGs.
There is a 100% SOLUTION... as some one has suggested - and it works Perfectly !!!!!
1 - install the latest JAVA for MAC -- "jre-8u91-macosx-x64" -- restart
2 - install the "Yosemite.AICS4.Fix.mpkg.zip" -- restart if prompted.
3 - from the menu change Apple / System Preferences / Accessibility / Display / Reduce Transparency
Even though the fix says its for Yosemite -- it Works also for El Capitan!!!!!!
All file types drag and drop (.PSD / .TIF / .PNG etc) and fonts menu is listed perfectly again.
Yosemite AICS4 Fix worked for me on El Capitan - I can now export a layered psd file from Illustrator CS4.
Hi Raul,
I installed and ran your plugin and now Illustrator won't run at all.
Is there any way to reverse the plugin???
Avoid this patch on Github. I downloaded it and it now crashes Illustrator CS4 AND Photoshop CS4 immediately after open. I didn't even have an issue with Photoshop before that. I now have no way to revert back to the way things were.
Had to upgrade to CS6 which is working fine. But seems that CS4 is ruined now.
I'm on El Capitan so I don't know if it works on Yosemite.
Here are some more instructions and a way to revert after patching:
1) Delicense and uninstall CS4 using the Adobe De/Installer.
2) Reinstall CS4.
3) Back up this file: Applications:Adobe Illustrator CS4:Adobe Illustrator CS4.app:Contents:Info.plist
(hold down the control key, click on the Illustrator app, and select "Show Package Contents" to get to the Contents folder)
4) Follow my previous instructions in this thread, but test Illustrator before proceeding with the patch.
To revert to the original version if the patch causes problems:
1) Replace Applications:Adobe Illustrator CS4:Adobe Illustrator CS4.app:Contents:Info.plist with the back up copy you made in step 3) above.
2) Delete libmap_fd_dylib from Applications:Adobe Illustrator CS4:Adobe Illustrator CS4.app:Contents:Frameworks
Also, NOT using dark menus makes the font menu a lot easier to read.
System Preferences > General > Uncheck "Use dark menu bar and Dock"
This worked like a champ. thanks to you smart folks for sharing.
Also, if you are reverting to the pre-patched version, you should do this as per Raul Alvarez :
. . . after restoring the original Info.plist file you should refresh the Launch Services Database cache (it stores a cache of the Info.plist files) with this command and restart Finder:
$ /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fra mework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
$ killall Finder
Thank you !!! it was very helpful
Many many thanks to: bfleischer, Raul Alvarez, Joe Sixpack !
