Should I run CleanMyMac2 on my iMac desktop computer to free up space to download Yosemite? Currently have Maverick, 10.9.5 Version Safari 4GB, Storage availability 951.73GB of 999.35GB?
Is it necessary to run Backup before installing Yosemite?

You have 951gB of space.... There is no need to free up space. There is also no need to run CleanmyMac, ever.
IT is always imperative to have at least one full backup.
No need to run CleanMyMac2. In fact on these forums I have read numerous reports of problems caused by such software.
You have plenty of space to download Yosemite, it requires less than 10 GB and you have more than 950 GB available.
You absolutely should make one, or preferably two, backups before making a change to the operating system.
