low-quality copy (to the clipboard) in Keynote and Pages

Hello,

I am running Keynote 6.5 under OS 10.10 on MacBook Air. Just after updating to Yosemite I have noticed that if I copy (command-c) something from Keynote (say, some text, or a graphic) and try to paste it outside (in Preview, or in Word) I get a low-quality image (bitmap rather than vector). It was not like this before. Also, I have verified that this problem is limited to Keynote and Pages; i.e., copying something out of (e.g.) Powerpoint works perfectly (vector image).

Anyone can help?

No! I didn't know that! However, on my affected computer, all it shows is the PNG graphic! Getting a full look at the pasteboard would show all the various formats (from the highest resolution PDF all the way down to PNG (if the program being pasted into does not support any of the other formats), but this HAS been informational.

This could mean that it might be worth it to look into FINDER defaults instead of Keynote. I'm going to see if the screenshot default has any effect. That's an excellent bit of sleuthing you did, there. I feel like we're closer than we've ever been to nailing down the errant difference that causes the issue.

It's an old page, but I'm going to check to see if these do anything, positive or negative 🙂

It only worked for the screen capture. If you copy from Keynote and do Finder>Edit>Show Clipboard, you still get a PNG.

I've been watching this issue for a long while and I just noticed I can now copy PDF Vector image data from Keynote if I select the entire slide in the navigator and then copy, and then I can paste the image as a PDF Vector in Preview or another app, e.g in powerpoint I can "Paste as PDF".

Note that selecting objects on a slide still copy as low quality image data.

Keynote 6.6.1

OSX Yosemite 10.10.5

Hope this helps!

I had the same issue using Keynote 6.6.2 on a Macbook OS El Capitan 10.11.6.

I found I could solve the problem if I exported my Keynote as a MS Office PowerPoint for Mac Version 15.24, then transferred from the Power Point to MS Word Version 15.24.

My images (these are detailed images of original diagrams and animation characters I created using my own shapes that I created with Keynote features) transferred with full resolution even at full screen.
