iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues
I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

So this blog ha been going for two years and still no fix.
come on Apple step up to this issue. It's a real pain.
I had the same EA4500 router as tom_eastcoast and DezM, and it does not work well on either the 5GHz or 2.4GHz. My particular issue was sporadic, it would disconnect from internet (but remain connected to wifi) on wakeup, with the probability of disconnect increasing as sleep time increased.
I just redid my test above and found that the problem mainly affects the 2.4G
2.4G goes from 60/6 to 0.8/0.9 when I launch Angry Birds
5G goes from 60/6 to 30/5 when Iaunch Angry Birds.
I'll stick with 5G for now 🙂
My router is Asus RT-AC68U and my ipad is 2nd generation iPad2
I wanted to buy the Air 2 until I came across this thread
Well, I guess I spoke too soon. My iPad Air 2 disconnected after waking up it from sleep. It was good all night and this morning but I'm connected to WiFi with no Internet access. Back to trying to figuring this out or just wait for a new iOS release that will address this.
Try using only the 2.4GHz band then only the 5GHz band, if both disconnect then welcome to the CLUB
I have. And I have been in the club for over a week & a half, unfortunately
just wanted to put my name in the bucket also.

Me too. I have a new iPad Air 2 and I have to use my old iPad three because my Wi-Fi keeps cutting off on my new iPad. And it also will never remember my network, and repeatedly ask for the password. When I enter the password it says it is incorrect even though I know it is not. Finally after trying 10 times it will connect.......but only for short time until it disconnects again. It is ridiculous having to use an old iPad instead of my $700 new iPad.
I'm using the xfinity modem/router combo. They do have a new model that I can exchange this one for and I plan to do it this week to see if that will help.
Macrumors.com posted last night that Apple released the iOS 8.1.1 beta to iOS developers.
"According to Apple's release notes, iOS 8.1.1 includes bug fixes and increased stability and performance improvements for both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s, two of the older devices that support the operating system.
As a minor update , iOS 8.1.1 includes fixes for several bugs, but major new features rumored for iOS 8, like improvements to Maps and split-screen multitasking for the iPad, will be reserved for major iOS 8 updates that are also in development."
If anyone on this thread has access to the release notes please let us know if there is any mention of our issue - thanks!
same issue as everyone else. I returned my ipad and got a brand new one....same issue. Ive set my router up to the same way apple recomends.
wifi goes to sleep and you have to manually wake it up. I tried the steps others mentioned on previous generations, but nothing has solved it yet. I unfortunately have grown acustomed to flipping it on and off before instarto do anyting.
By the early looks of this beta iOS 8.1.1 be careful because it says you cannot restore back to previous version.
Also I don't see any mention of a fix for Wifi issues.
Its interesting - I had gotten used to flipping wifi off and on in iOS 7 on my iPad 3. When I updated to iOS 8, that went away! Of course I had had sync problems with passwords on an iOS 7 update sometime within the first 6 months of 2014, and they continued when I updated to iOS 8. But none of these problems on my new iPad Air 2. It is flawless and that's nice to once again have!
I Can't help but think my own issues and those of others may well have to do with our individual settings. It's SO easy to check or uncheck a box, or have the default pref change - it drives us crazy and is very time consuming to troubleshoot. Sure was easier when we had fewer choices!
Seems like it's only available to developers and I see that you can't go back when updating to this. Weird how there's no mention of the WiFi issues.
I suggest you ALL go to Apple's Feedback page and let them know that THERE IS a problem with WiFi and iOS 8.1 on our devices:
I just did a feedback post under Bug Problem
