iOS 8.1 Weather App/Notification Center

This could only happen in Canadian iPhones. I saw weather in notification centre once after I upgraded to iOS 8.1. It was the day I came back from the States.

I actually received a response from Apple on my bug report... They asked me for some more details, like what my exact location is and if I received current weather data in the weather app, which I do... so hopefully they will fix it...

that is great to hear. i have been talking to apple for three weeks and they give me the same old bullcrap.. Talk to your carrier, IT IS your carriers problem. I ave been dealing with this for weeks now and had my carrier investigate with a ticket. It is clearly an APPLE issue and they should take the appropriate steps to rectify the problem. No wonder why everyone is jumping away from APPLE as fast as they can. They play the blame game in hopes that you just eventually leave it alone. SOME FEEDBACK WOULD BE NICE. I would love to see your bug report that you sent APPLE to see how you got a reply. APPLE clearly does not care about CANADIAN customers.

Well if they say that it is a carrier issue, I will then install iOS 8.0 back on my phone, because it worked then... and carrier wouldn't have anything to do with wifi though... but ya, I will make sure they have no other excuse than to say that it is their issue...

I Agree. I tested and my wife has the same issue on her phone.

it seems decidedly Canadian and the "it's your carrier" excuse is BS, as the weather app itself reads my location just fine, it's only on the notification drop down where it's a problem.

how can you re-install iOS 8.?? I was under the impression that once iOS 8 and 8.1.1 came out there is no going back? If you could please advice? I will be doing the same as it worked on iOS 8

You can go back to iOS 8.0 the same way developers install the betas, which I had a developer account while in college.

The thing is, with installing iOS 8.0 you can't restore your phone, so I would only do it temporarily to prove that it isn't a carrier issue or wifi issue...

But ya, much can be found by Googling... 🙂

i tried and appearantly now because iOS 8.1.1 has come out the only version your temporarily allowed to downgrade to is iOS 8.1

Ah... looks like you're right... sorry about that misinformation... I can't go back... Hmmm... Not nice when you need to prove something... oh well... hopefully they will work with me...

Everyone I believe I stumbled upon a fix for this missing weather info in notifications.

Go to settings-privacy-locations services-weather. Make sure the weathers tab is set to "Always". This worked for me. Hope this helps. Also if your locations services is greyed out, in a manner where by you can not make changes, you may have your restrictions turned on. To turn on or off restrictions go to settings-general-restrictions(may ask for your passcode)-locations services-then check allow changes.

Thanks, but tried that... Even tried restoring my phone with iTunes Restore and setup as a new phone and it wouldn't show...

That worked previously when these were issues came up, but here it's something very different from that.

It also seems to primarily impact Canadians, or those outside the US
