why does my iPad Air 2 make loud pop noise randomly, when touching the screen, closing smart case cover, placing cursor in input text field?

I hear a loud pop sound occurs randomly during using iPad Air 2.

Some examples when I heard pop sound.

1. Closing the smart case cover. Unit is connected to AC adapter.

2. Touch on screen

3. Touch on input text field In browser.

It makes me worry that I have defective unit.

Has any users experienced same thing?

iPad Air, iOS 8.1

I got a pop sound as well thru the speakers. I was surfing on a bit coin site and it popped. That was the first day I had it, and it's been fine since. i did also get some crackling from the speakers trying the audio message feature in iMessage

Requested an exhange online.

After my replacement, new unit seems OK now. I haven't heard any pop sounds yet. so far so good. It seems that certain batches out there might have some bad components inside the unit. If you hear this type of noise, do not hesitate, get exchange for a new one. And if it is possible, please help other users by adding your problem/experience to this post. I will keep checking. I have 8 more days for full refund if pop noises still there.

i just heard the first pop sound on new unit after 3 days. Unit was connected to AC overnight for charging. Next morning I resumed unit. Using Notes app for typing and also SafarI for browsing information. No problem for 5 minutes. Suddenly, a loud pop noise occurred when placing cursor in input text box. Unit was still connected to AC. Battery meter indicated full charge. Volume at mid level. All other settings were at default. My Air first generation never has this kind of issue using ios 8.1. It seems like HW problem of Air 2 in my opinion. From my observations on my unit, it pops when it is connecting to AC apdater and operating unit at same time. I am going to return this unit. It is expensive to keep when I am uncertain it can be fixed. Mine is 128gb.

Sadly, a fresh restore doesn't seem to help either. I had the store totally nuke it (no backup), and set it up again only to have the same random popping sounds when typing out messages and occasionally when putting the iPad to sleep. This is pretty frustrating since it's not necessarily something that stands out in a noisy Apple Store, and I'm not getting any distortion when I play music (yet...enough pops and those tiny speakers might start getting distorted, and I'm not putting up with that on a brand new iPad!

To be fair though, the guy took about a paragraph of notes, so the problem is not only documented, but they will likely not put up a fight if I go back to swap it out tomorrow.

mainepete noticed pops on his iPhone 6. I suspected HW issue because both iphone6 and Air2 have new thin design with fingerprint device. I have Air 1 and do not experience this type of pops on Air 1 with iOS 8.1. Air 1 is thicker. No one seems to know for certain if this issue is HW or SW, or it has been reported to Apple service support, development team, and test QA team. How many users out there having this issue or just us who have defective units coming from same bad batches. Pop sound occurs intermittently like this usually is not easy to fix. It does take time for engineering to debug and finding root causes, unless Apple has already known about it and has not found the fix yet. If you are using Air2 and having same issue, you can help us to escalate the severity by sharing your problem/experience to this post or other similar post of same issue. I have noticed about 5xx views of this post and other similar posts.
