why does my iPad Air 2 make loud pop noise randomly, when touching the screen, closing smart case cover, placing cursor in input text field?

I hear a loud pop sound occurs randomly during using iPad Air 2.

Some examples when I heard pop sound.

1. Closing the smart case cover. Unit is connected to AC adapter.

2. Touch on screen

3. Touch on input text field In browser.

It makes me worry that I have defective unit.

Has any users experienced same thing?

iPad Air, iOS 8.1

I got a pop sound as well thru the speakers. I was surfing on a bit coin site and it popped. That was the first day I had it, and it's been fine since. i did also get some crackling from the speakers trying the audio message feature in iMessage

Requested an exhange online.

I Would highly encourage everyone with this issue to send apple feedback and mark the feedback type as a bug here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html I just got my replacement iPad Air 2 and I'm still getting the speaker pop. This is extremely frustrating. At this point we don't know if it's a hardware or software bug so at least if we can get they're attention here, they can look into it.

Im also getting the speaker "pop"...

I think it's a problem with the new speakers they are using in the Air 2... Will probably have to wait for an Air 3 for a new hardware fix.

Also there seems to be software problems also... For example, in the "Family Guy" app, the in-game music won't play until a notification pops up, like the low battery warning. Which is really strange...

Im really losing confidence in Apple after this...

My 15 day return runs out on Saturday, for you guys that are running out of time what do you plan on doing? Hold out and hope it's software and can be patched or return and get money back. I've already had two that do it so I do not see the point on exchanging another one.I also installed the ios 8.1.1 beta and poping still happens.

I've be using my exchanged iPad Air 2 for almost a week now. It does the same as the original one did. Every once in a while I hear a pop that sounds like a small static discharge just like the first one did. I've decide to keep it even though it has the problem. I hope it's software, but something makes me think it has to do with the hardware. It only does it maybe once every few days. I thought I saw another post that some wrote they had a similar problem with a first generation iPad Air.

I also posted to the place where you report bugs to Apple about this problem.

i just submitted feedback...thanks for the suggestion and link. I'm having the same popping issue on my air 2...tho i've had only 4 pops in two weeks. 2 of which were clearly NOT from the speakers. today one was in the upper left side and even felt a slight vibration. another was when it was off/sleep mode just sitting on my sofa. nothing consistent... earlier today i put in for an exchange but now after finding this forum/thread i'm fearful of getting one that's a worse offender or other issues. this one is great in all other aspects...

I returned three and they all popped... I finally returned mine for a refund instead of an exchange. I love the Speed: 2GB of RAM, 64 Bit of architecture, the A8X processor, and A8X mobile processor, but I believe there are issues with the conductivity within the device.

I also noticed, after reading Tech guides, that there are two versions of the iPad Air 2. One UI iPad5,3 & the other is UI iPad5,4. the Benchmark on the iPad5,4 is a bit higher than the iPad5,3. Everyone I know has an iPad5,3... The Tech reviewers all received an iPad5,4 to review.

This is not a software issue either. Any motherboard that makes a popping noise is not good, especially if it is located right where the Processor and RAM are.

I have heard folks trying to talk their self out of returning their device by saying it may be "settling" computers especially SSD driven computers do not have any moving parts that would "settle". They are soldered to a mother board along with the processors, RAM, Qualcom chip, etc... In other words there is nothing to "settle" or nowhere to "settle" to. I would strongly suggest returning yours if it is making any kind of popping noise. As terrible as it may be it is the only real way to resolve the issue.
