My iTunes won't burn CDs anymore

Some settings may, not always, but may revert when a new version of the software is installed.

I've got the same problem.
My CD's burned great in 6 and will not burn in 7.0 or 7.018

I'm getting tired of wasting coasters that are getting expensive

Your issue is a bit different. I have applied to you in the thread where you posted your CD/DVD diagnostics.

I am having a similiar problem. My itunes stopped reading my burner information. When I try to burn it says "Disc burner or software not found". Everything was fine and then all of the sudden it stopped. Any ideas? I tried re-installing, but that did nothing. I ran the diagnostics and this is what it says:

Could you try under and admin user?

i am the administrator, but it comes up as i am not

in win vista i must turn off the user account control (uac)
and i must also not record faster than 8x

my cd drivers are not quite yet optimized for windows vista

have trouble seeing audio cd's

i have the burner working now, but need to keep it set at 8x, but the quality of the cd seems to be degrading as the disc progresses. the last 4 or 5 tracks on the burned cd wont play well in the car cd, but play well on the pc

any thoughts would be appreciated

I am having the same problem on WinXP Pro running iTunes 7.0.1. I get the error "Disc burner or software not found..." When I give myself administrator privileges I can then burn. Worked fine with iTunes 6.

7.0.1 is much better than 7.0.0 (which was a DISASTER on my computer), but I am still having some audio breakup when I scroll with the mouse wheel. This seems to happen also or mainly when I scroll in another program (like Firefox) when iTunes is playing. One time it was distorted and breaking so bad, I had to pause and then play again for the music to even be listenable.

Apple has some work to do before iTunes 7 is back to the quality level of iTunes 6. I hope the problems mentioned above will be fixed in 7.0.2.
