iPad air 2 pop noise

I returned three and they all popped... I finally returned mine for a refund instead of an exchange. I love the Speed: 2GB of RAM, 64 Bit of architecture, the A8X processor, and A8X mobile processor, but I believe there are issues with the conductivity within the device.

I also noticed, after reading Tech guides, that there are two versions of the iPad Air 2. One UI iPad5,3 & the other is UI iPad5,4. the Benchmark on the iPad5,4 is a bit higher than the iPad5,3. Everyone I know has an iPad5,3... The Tech reviewers all received an iPad5,4 to review.

This is not a software issue either. Any motherboard that makes a popping noise is not good, especially if it is located right where the Processor and RAM are.

I have heard folks trying to talk their self out of returning their device by saying it may be "settling" computers especially SSD driven computers do not have any moving parts that would "settle". They are soldered to a mother board along with the processors, RAM, Qualcom chip, etc... In other words there is nothing to "settle" or nowhere to "settle" to. I would strongly suggest returning yours if it is making any kind of popping noise. As terrible as it may be it is the only real way to resolve the issue. Contact Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html and share your experience. Read the hundreds of Apple lovers expressing all of their efforts and remember that Apple's Flag Ship will soon have a fix...

at this point i dont see the need to return for refund and repurchase later. mine still has the occasional 'snap' noise...but functions fine..so far...(and of course not including the definite issues software related.) spoke with apple support twice and the warranty covers defects such as this. after the dust settles i will be exchanging this one for a new one...not a 'repaired' one. apple records their phone calls so im covered! i back up often so if or when it becomes catastrophic im covered there as well. in the mean time i use it as intended and just keep an ongoing record of when these 'snaps' occur.

interesting to learn about the two versions. mine is 5,3. also did the benchmark test...results are 4476... thanks to the person who posted about that app 🙂

as i said...i dont see a benefit to be without my device while waiting for a fix. apple has been contacted and has a record of this/my issue. i can keep using it..while i wait it out!

i just exchanged mine and it is manufactured week 45 and i dont get that problem anymore (walked through all the procedures that would create the pop sound, via safari etc) . This is definitely not a software issue so if your holding on to urs, dont hesitate to exchange it. (did quite a bit of looking around and mostly ones that were manufactured week 42 and under gets the popping issue)

i recieved my iPad with 8.1 had the issue, thought 8.1.1 might fix OTA but it still persisted.

i restored the software and loaded the back up from before the restore and its day 2 and no problems so far. I really DO think it's a software issue because Why would it work some times and others no? Why does a reboot sometimes fix it? Why is it mostly with system sounds (keyboard clicks, Siri, lock sounds ) I cant see it being hardware

Well, at least ipad5,3 and ipad5,4 is not some big conspiracy as 5,3 is WLAN-model (A1566) and 5,4 is Wlan+cellular (A1567).

No, It is hardware issue. ios 8.1, 8.11, all of ios has a popping sounds -_-

It can see it being hardware, can't see it being software.

I'm seeing on my iPad Air 2 128GB Wifi only model. I updated to 8.1.1 and it's still there. I have to think it's a software thing, like the iPad is trying to kick in the speaker when an app launches. That seems to be when it happens, even though it's only intermittent.

Ever since it happened a a couple of times on mine, it hasn't made another pop since (in spite of quite heavy use).. I've not fully charged it since then.. I'll see whether having the battery up in the 90% makes any difference.

I have figured it out everyone rest assured. It is a software issue as I thoughy. Shortly after posting my problems on YouTube someone commented that thier iPad mini 2 was doing the same. That night I noticed a weird variation in my iPhone 5's lock sound similar to my iPad's. The following day when at my sister's house, my sister was taking pictures with her iPad mini 1 and the camera shutter sound was awful. Quizzically I asked if she noticed the change in sound, she did and told me how her iPad mini 1 was 'glitching out' and that sometimes it refuses to play any sound. So the issue is not solely affiliated with the iPad air 2

Ios 8.1 and 8.1.1 are the same for everyone, it cannot be a software issue, all ipads should have that issue then. It must be hardware.

Yes it can, both iPads have different internals therefore will run iOS 8 differently. Much like if you take a brand new 5k iMac and install leopard. You might notice things on the new iMac running leopard and other things on the old iMac running leopard etc.

I installed 8 on 8.1.1 on both an iPhone and an iPad and the iPhone version was a lot smaller...

Having said that it still seems like hardware to me, the zap sounds like static and I swear it comes from the middle of the thing and not from the speakers.

Two ipad air 2 dont have different internals. If it was a software issue all ipad air 2 running the same software would have this problem but thats not the case

The issue is with the sound from speakers. When my ipad shows this gimmick, I can't adjust the sound level through the slider, it is stuck at loudest although the slider doesnt show the max Level...

Maybe there are two different sound problems...
