iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

Just heard a zap and checked the slider, it still worked... so maybe there are two problems.

Or, maybe it's a hardware issue that's affecting the system in semi-random ways: I just heard three zaps in maybe five minutes and when I tried to enter text into Safari the keyboard came up vertically in the right side of the screen, ninety degrees from where it should have bin. And now it's OK again.

MMeaning that it is popping just like the other iPad Air 2's I returned. The problem is not the speakers thou it is more of a static discharge on the left middle of the pad. Far from the speakers. If it were the speakers it would not pop when the volume was lower or muted. The sound of the pop also would very based on how low or how high the volume was set. This is an electric arc that is making the pop, or crackle sound. It is not software it is hardware because some iPad air 2s don't have the popping sound and others do. In addition this issue is happening all over the world were the iPad Air was released. I am taking this one back for a refund and wait a few months before buying another one. some folks are mistaking the sound amplified when typing and a text or other alert sound happens and the two sounds are suddenly louder. That is software or just simple amplification feed back while two diferrant sounds are made at the sane time. All iDevices have been doing that ever since iPhone 4.

I Took my second iPad Air 2 to an authorized apple dealer and he heard the sound and he placed a cord into the lighting port and ran an diagnostic and then while he was preforming the test it popped and the electric output went through the roof, meaning there are parts that are not quit grounded to the board. He is the only Apple tech that has openly admitted to having heard of this issue and did the same test and the iPads5,3 & iPad5,4 that were returned for the same reason had the same readings As mine. I exchanged it and he warned that there is no telling right now that you will get one that does not have this HARDWARE issue. I should have listened this one does the same thing. So after this post I am off to get a refund. Ciao everyone.

I'm pretty sure it is coming from the speakers.

The volume control is generally before the power amp stage. If it's a problem with that or a problem with the power supply the volume control will have no effect on it.

It is also present in headphones.

I think what you may be feeling is the speaker vibration from the pop resonating through the case.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same popping noise, perhaps somebody might try the following:

1. Play a song in the Music Player.

2. Open Settings/Music/Equalizer.

3. Switch between "Late Night" and "Latin" presets while the song is playing and it makes a pop just before the preset becomes active.

I hear the popping noise no matter whether I'm using the internal speakers or external speakers connected via Bluetooth. The pop comes from the speakers. I guess it's a problem with the audio driver.

wow there is a lot of views and replies regarding this issue and I just bought one and it made a popping sound from the inside. Not anywhere near the speaker or mic. I muted my iPad Air 2 (IPA2) and the popping was just as loud as the first couple of times and it is in the middle of the IPA2. Since this has sooooooo many views and replies that date back to October I am returning mine and wait until next year. I would rather the watch any way. I love my iPhone 6, 4.7" even with the glitchy iOS 8.1.1. I know Macs just received an update regarding connection issues and security on Friday. Also I noticed the community site was glitchy too. had all kinds of problems

guys it's clearly a software issuse i restored the software and it was fine for a week. the whole battery theory I can debunk right now because it just happened again at 7%. Audio wasnt working when I woke up and tried to use it when it was fine last night. Rebooted. Still dead. Rebooted again and the pop happened and the Audio sounded as if it was being screamed by someone or through extremely blown out speakers but I was using headphones that are perfectly fine... rebooted again and it's all back to normal and fine. I dont understand how any of you are saying it came "from inside the iPad" because if played any song with even the slightest bit of bass you would know it rocks the whole chassis. Like i said. I've seen with my own eyes a first or second generation iPad MINI do it. Heard from another iPad mini user the same thing. And my iPhone more or less strange variations in the lock sound. I think it's more of an issue with the air because of how bass-y the audio output is, especially on the speakers. It probably just spikes the bass causing the feel of zap. Kind of similar to how you put your hand on an amp when you plug in an electric guitar
