iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

Well, not baseless and definitely not untrue. You can see how many if not all has this problem, 1, 2 , 10, 100, 1000, no, more and more,

i am not making any statements or whatever, just share my opinion and experience. Don't take it personal, does your one pops up? But be honest and no need answer here, just answer for yourself. and what is the problem if all pops? It's even better costumer satisfaction, good for all and bad for all Equally.

Regards

You said and I quote "its more then obvious that all iPads Air 2 has this issue, some are worse then the others but no exception, soon or late will pop."

That is not an opinion. You make a statement as fact. Which is utterly NOT TRUE. You have no facts or statistics to back this statement up with and I know lot's of iPad Air 2 owners who have No, None, Zip, Zero popping issues. Therefore, your statement that it's obvious ALL iPad Air 2 have this issue, with no exception is baseless, that you can not support with any fact. That is of course unless you have personally seen every iPad Air 2 sold in the world, which we know you haven't.

If iPop is a hardware issue (and I think it is because it hasn't been fixed yet--e.g., wk 5 units popping), there are two possibilities of the scope:

1) Will happento all iPads if this is a design defect in the engineering of the motherboard, e.g. wrong component specs, or a bad critical component like the A7X chip that Apple will not change this cycle

2) Will affect only some iPads if this is a bad component lot from a supplier, or a manufacturing tolerance issue of one of the components.

The issue is so random, hard to reliably reproduce, and affects so many units, the fact one iPad hasn't popped yet doesn't mean it won't in the future, especially If the problem falls under #1 above, the chances are higher it will pop.

Thanks 2013FitFan, the video was a huge help. I have turned off my keyboard click sound for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't had the pop noise. After watching that youtube video and replicating on my Air 2 sure enough the pop noise is there. So I'm going to continue to keep my Keyboard click noise off and see if the pop noise will come back by the end of this month. If not then i'm going to assume it has something to do with the keyboard.

droid-apple,

You're welcome!

Like you, I was able to replicate the pop by following the steps in the video. I have not heard it since I've turned off keyboard clicks as well. I'm really hoping that being able to reproduce the pop sound this way indicates it's a software problem. I've fowarded that video link, with my feedback to Apple.

LIke you, I had my keyboard off prior to that video and heard no pops for awhile. Now that your keyboard is off, please post back with your results In a couple of weeks. I will as well. Thanks!

Here is the video, if anyone wants to test it on their Air 2. http://youtu.be/np10FQbWtSI

That's not the popping noise in the video. It's just a loud normal keyboard click sound. I'd guess this is indeed a little iOS bug and not related to our problem. The popping noise sounds different like a static discharge.

Would be interesting if somebody with a pop free device could do the same like the person in the video.

I can reproduce the pop following those steps and moving the ringer alerts slider up/down. It's the same popping sound you're comparing to a static discharge. I've heard that snap sound plenty of times. I can not reproduce, with keyboard clicks off.

I'm getting the same sound when following the steps in the video but it's always the same sound, no variations. The random pop noise on my device on the other hand never sounds the same. It's a loud snap but two of those pops sound similar they are not the same.

The easiest way to produce the pop on my iPop:

Put your finger on the display and swipe down and up. Keep the finger on the display don't lift it up. Each time the finger moves down it opens the search (keyboard comes up) and in the other direction it closes the search (keyboard disappears). No need to type something in the search field. Just swipe your finger down and up repeatedly with different speeds like you are wiping something off the display. That way I'm getting many pops when I have keyboard clicks enabled and zero pops with keyboard clicks disabled.

This is why I think it's software related. Turning on and turning off the keyboard feature affects whether it pops.

I'm going to try your test and see if I can replicate it. Thanks.
