finder crashing at Yosemite

Hi! I have the same problem. My finder doesn't open at all, it says that 'Finder quit unexpectedly while using the Finder plug-in'.

I did the test and this is my result:

Can you help me man?

Exact same problem here as Shak_71 above - "Finder quit unexpectedly while using the Finder plug-in". As suggested elsewhere, I've deleted Finder caches and configuration, tried a different user, tried safe mode, .... the problem persists. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

I too had a Finder issue: Finder crashed when trying to open a not empty directory.

After doing the permissions thing it is behaving well.

I have had major finder problems with Yosemite. Yet with the rest of it running fine.

Applications folder simply will not display apps no matter what view, including list.

- Apps run fine if already pinned to my dock.

- Launch pad just shows "Loading Applications" but goes no where.

I have been following your advice and this crash occurred when doing the reset of preferences Stage 1 above.

Are you able to interpret the memory leak?

Unable to gather system configuration information.

For those experiencing the "Finder quit unexpectedly while using the Finder plug-in" issue, I solved the problem by replacing the Finder.app (Macintosh HD ▸ System ▸ Library ▸ CoreServices) with one from a working Yosemite machine.

This worked for me, as well. Replacement process has to be done from command line, or console app, as of course Finder is not working... 🙂 Just gotta learn the right commands to copy files from another volume to the aforementioned path. (Macintosh HD\System\Library\CoreServices\)

NOTE: Finder STILL wouldn't open after reboot, I still had to use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on the hard drive, and it fixed the permissions on the new Finder app file.
