iPhoto import problems from Canon EOS 300D.
iPhoto recognises the camera, says it is 'loading' but just hangs there. Tried all trouble shooting tips. My pocket Canon IXUS camera works fine (iMac running Yosemite latest version of iPhoto).

Shooting Raw or Jpeg? If Raw read this. It's worked for others:
RAW files suddenly show up as "not supported" (Aperture 3.5.1, OS X 10.10)
Jpeg.....
Will Image Capture (in your applications folder) download them?
If you can get the photos off the card and safely on disk then use the camera's format command to erase and reformat the card
LN
No. There, too, the camera icon is present and the message 'loading' (with turn wheel) - but it isn't......
Then use a card reader and use the finder to get the photos to disk and then reformat and erase the card using the Camera's format command
LN
Thanks, all and yes, Larry, I think you're right - it's beginning to look like the card......
Cheers.
Hi Keith, I had the same problem with my Canon 300D on iPhoto/iMac/Yosemite. What worked for me was changing the setting on my camera, menu-tools2, communication: normal -> PTP. This was a trick I found on a MS Windows forum (win7/win8 support). Hope this works for you as well! (you might need to wait a bit if you have a lot of pictures, the flashing red led will promise success 🙂)
Cheers, AR
Thanks AR,
I got the files across using a card reader, then reinserted the card in the camera, reformatted and now seems to be working OK........
Spot on, had to turn camera off and back on but works fine now. Thanks.
I had the same problem with the EOS 300D not uploading onto the Photos App.
Arie71's tip did the trick straight away, many thanks.
