itunes 12 track names not found and user not registered for online use

Type in %appdata% and press return

Double click on Apple Computer

Double click on iTunes

Delete the file CD Info.cidb

Have tried this on a Windows 8 computer to no avail. Is the fix for a Windows 8 computer different?

I tried that as well and it didn't work for me.

Try deleting com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist in the same folder, and if that doesn't work try deleting iTunesPrefs.xml. If you delete the last one make sure to check/reset your preferences in iTunes.

we deleted all 3 files ....didn' t work either

You could try deleting the entire%appdata%/Apple Computer folder or look for parallel files/folders in the C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local or C:\Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow folders in case a corrupt file is persisting there.

Or it might not be the preference files after all...

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

well whats interesting is we have 2 users on the computer - 1 user gets the tracks....the other one does not.

We spent 2 hours on the phone with level 2 only to be hung up on ...

we'll read ...and see

That would suggest a per-user preference issue rather than the application then.

preferences are the same

weird I cannot access the local files for user - permission error but I am the adminstrator

Can you edit the permissions to get access?

yeah ok, have permission and deleted a few preference files in multiple USER files

there are 2 folders APPDATA and Application data, both have apple and iTunes folders? which are you thinking about deleting ?

ok freaking worked - multiple preference files were conflicting ...deleted them along with the other two folders, relaunched...looks great.

I did notice, that my total song count (which was there this morning) is now missing on the bottom iTunes task bar...I'd liked seeing 9817 songs 🙂 looking forward to 10,000 as my next milestone....

Not sure how you get to 30,000 but no doubt you will make it sooner than you think. Wish I can send to you the $30 per incident cost Apple wanted to charge me 🙂

Press Ctrl+/

Check your other preferences such as those for Import Format, Keep... & Copy... etc. which will have been reset.
