mac App Store will not let me update iMovie

I have a MacBook Pro 13in early 2011, Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i%, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. I upgraded to Yosemite from Lion on Oct. 18 2014. No problems. I noticed a prompt from the App Store that an update for iMovie, ver.10.0.6 was was available on Oct. 26, 2014. I went to the Mac App Store, logging into my account with my one and only Apple ID and received this message: "This update is not available for this Apple ID, either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." I have been searching Apple support and the Apple communities since then to no avail. I currently have iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 on my laptop. Both iPhoto and ITunes updated properly after the Yosemite upgrade.I also get a message that says "All purchases have been downloaded for this account". I have gone to my purchase page and there is not option to "Accept" as has been suggested in the forums. I have gone to "My Account" page and clicked on the Reset button. However, it appears to be greyed out so nothing changed with that. I have logged off and logged back on repeatedly over the last few days. I have turned my laptop off and then back on. I want to Disk Utilities and followed the steps for Verifying Permissions. Both iPhoto and IMovie came built-in with this laptop, and it seems odd to me that iPhoto would update but not iMovie.

I don't know what other steps to take. Any advice would be appreciated.

I did change my password about 4 months ago, but that is the only change to the account that I have made. Everything else is unchanged.

Open the Mac App Store, sign into your account (Store menu), go to the Purchases pane, are there any apps for you to Accept into your account listed there? If so, Accept them.

1. I went to the App Store icon in the Dock, clicked on it, and it opened the App Store.

2. Went to the Store Menu.

3. Clicked on the Sign-in link.

4. The Sign-in window opened with my Apple ID already in there, so all I entered was my password.

5. My pw was accepted, the App Store opened with the Welcome under Quick Links.

6. At the top I clicked on Purchases.

7. The Purchases pane opened, and listed items I had purchased, and when.

8. It showed iPhoto as a purchase on Oct. 19, and Yosemite as purchased on Oct 18 (the day I upgraded)

9.The Purchases pane showed 3 columns: the Name of the Purchase, the Date of the Purchase, and on the far right side, was a column which provided a Download button for the two upgrades I have done: OS X Lion, and most recently, OS X Yosemite. For the rest the button provided was Open. Both types of buttons were working, i.e. by clicking on the button for iPhoto it took me to iPhoto on my mac.

10. So, in answer to your question: No, there were no apps for me to Accept into my account listed there. I listed the steps I went through in case I took a wrong turn somewhere in getting to the purchase pane.

Are there other steps I can try since this did not work for me?

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.

Step 1

A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.

Step 2

If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.

If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.

Step 3

If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.

Step 4

From the App Store menu bar, select

Store ▹ View My Account

Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

Step 5

According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. I'm the original owner of this iMac and I have no apps to accept. There's Mavericks and Yosemite that the App Store says I still need to download, but even when I click on the buttons, the whole App "flickers" like it's trying to do something and then after a few seconds, stops. I have no idea what to do, short of actually just deleting everything iMovie-related and starting over, I guess.
