Alarm Clock not working with iOS 8.1

I am running iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have a number of alarm clocks set up on it to go off throughout the day.

Very recently I noticed that the alarms that I have set up for the morning don't go off. I triple checked all of the settings, and they should be working. I've also turned the Ringer Volume up all the way, and still nothing. When I finally wake up and check my iPhone, there is no message that an alarm had ever gone off.

However, once I hit the sleep/wake button, and begin using my iPhone, the alarms that I have set later in the day seem to go off as scheduled.

Are you talking about the built in alarm clock that came with the phone or a 3rd party alarm clock that you downloaded?

If the latter - check their support site.

if the built in one, my works perfectly.

Yeah, this problem blows... Here's what's fixed this on multiple phones at this point. before you do your hard reset (home button and side on/off button, hold till you see the apple), close the alarm app (double press the home button, flick the alarm app upwards). After you're back up with your phone, open the alarm app and set your time... Make sure it's on, because for some reason sometimes you go back and it's magically switched it self off. I also set a redundant alarm, just incase this somehow fails with the next brilliant update.

MOST RECENT UPDATE TO THE PROBLEM...

A lot of people were figuring out that you had to wake up your phone before the alarm app would wake you up.. Yeah! How's that supposed to work?! Well here's the way without using a 3rd party app:

use se your Reminder app.. Set an alarm on your Reminder app to go off a minute or two before your alarm is supposed to go off... That'll be sufficient for waking you phone up.

§ There is a glitch with the alarm app software for a lot of people. So until Apple fixes this... The method up top or the recent update, will do the trick.

Result for me... doesn't fix the problem reliable for me... today my alarm didn't wake me up despite I confuged the reminder for waking up the phone...

I think there is a connection between the snooze function because if you turn it off the alarm will work more often than with activated snooze function...

So still no solution for the problem till now... 😟

Are there any explanations as to why this is happening?

I have now been late for work twice in the space of a week. The alarm doesn't go off at all, then when I wake up naturally (usually about an hour later than I should be waking up!) the alarm appears to be going off on my phone, but there is no sound and the screen/app has in fact just crashed.

This is on a two week old 5S with iOS 8.1.2 and with the phone connected to the mains charger over night. It was even doing it on my old 5, but as it was a release day model and as I'd not looked after it too well since cracking the screen a few months ago, I thought it might have been the hardware that was causing the problem. It would appear that it's definitely a software bug and only since iOS8. (It was doing it on my old 5 on the previous iOS release too.)

It's crazy that this hasn't been addressed, how many other people are being made late for work over this problem?!

I've downloaded a third party app now, so I won't be using the native one until there's a guaranteed fix.

Yes I have discovered this on a new iPhone 6 also, I got the phone a week ago and today is the 3rd morning the last week the alarm has failed. I guess it is back to using my iPhone 4 for my alarm, well done Apple.

I have used my iPhone 4 alarm every day for a couple of years and never any issue, as soon as I get an iPhone 6 I have had Alarm issues.

I use my iPad exclusively for an alarm clock and since updating to iOS 8.1.x it has not been reliable three times now since approximately Nov 2014.

Updated just the other day to 8.1.3 and alarm did NOT go off this morning. What is SCARY is that I don't set it every morning, so the percentage of times it has failed is way higher then you would think.

Humm... I now set my alarms on both my iPhone 4 (iOS7) and iPhone 6 (iOS8) every morning since I updated the iPhone 6 to 8.1.3 (Just in case, I have honestly lost trust in Apple.. not that it is helpful!), anyway... so far I have found the iPhone 6 has gone off every morning for me since the update, maybe there is more to this! If I find a fail with my iPhone on 8.1.3 I will post back.

I deleted my existing daily alarm, re-added it and yesterday it went off on time. Key thing I noticed was it had a different 'sound' for the alarm. Maybe that is what is behind it not working.

Disappointing thing is that us customers of Apple products have the confidence in Apple that when new releases come out that they are thoroughly tested and that we should not have to be on guard for such things.

Will monitor and post back if needed.

There are a lot of problems that have to do with the clock on IOS8. I have purchased three different apps that serve as bedside table clocks - they don't let the phone "go to sleep" and display a clock all night. I have used this basic idea for a few years with no problem. Then when I got my iPhone 6 plus with IOS 8 (not sure what is causing the problem) I would go to bed with a clock face showing and wake up with a settings page of the app showing. After the first problem I called apple - they said it is something wrong with the app. I contacted the app developer and they said it must be Apple. So I bought a different App and thought that should fix the problem. The next morning I woke up to a settings screen for that app. I contacted the developer who said that it is "impossible". So I gave it one last try and got a different app - same problem. It changes pages in the night by itself. Doesn't happen during the day (but I don't have alarms set then - could have something to do with it?). My new very expensive phone kept disconnecting with my car too so I thought there must be something wrong with it and called apple. They said that all the inconsistent performance problems could be resolved by a full restore. So I did that and hours of wasted time later nothing has changed. This is probably my 5th or 6th iPhone and I own every Apple product ever made. Heck, I am even a stockholder! But this is the first time I am totally disgusted. Any suggestions? Help!

I am on 8.2. And this is still a problem. I had to buy a regular alarm clock this week because my the clock app is so faulty. Alarms set on the fly work just fine. But I like to have alarms scheduled for certain days. I wake up earlier on tuesdays and thursdays since i have earlier classes those days. It simply does not go off. Everything seems to be setup correctly. Its really ******* me off. This used to be one of my favorite features of the iPhone.

I had the same problem today, and as a pilot I missed my flight. 😠

I really don't know why Apple can not fix these problems. Honestly, after iOS 8 till now I have had lots of bugs and faults on my iPhone and sometimes on my iPad.

For example, a bug which is changing the sort of my flight times during synchronization between iPhone an iPad Logten pro pilot logbook and etc....

But I will not forgive Apple for the inconvenience caused today for me, because I missed my flight and I will have a punishment for this.

Best regards,
