Alarm Clock not working with iOS 8.1

I am running iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have a number of alarm clocks set up on it to go off throughout the day.

Very recently I noticed that the alarms that I have set up for the morning don't go off. I triple checked all of the settings, and they should be working. I've also turned the Ringer Volume up all the way, and still nothing. When I finally wake up and check my iPhone, there is no message that an alarm had ever gone off.

However, once I hit the sleep/wake button, and begin using my iPhone, the alarms that I have set later in the day seem to go off as scheduled.

Are you talking about the built in alarm clock that came with the phone or a 3rd party alarm clock that you downloaded?

If the latter - check their support site.

if the built in one, my works perfectly.

I can confirm that this issue has still not been fixed on 8.4 and I missed a rather important meeting today. I'd go on about having lost trust in Apple and their products, but I believe that's useless too since Apple clearly has other priorities. Lesson learnt, anyhow. I used to value these basic things working flawlessly rather than the shiny new features, which, under their veneer of fanciness are flawed and buggy.

Another report of the same problem here. It just started yesterday (iPhone 6+, iOS 8.4). My 6.30am alarm bleeped for 1 sec and then was silent. The screen looked like the alarm is going off, but no sounds or vibrations were heard (I checked the settings for sound and alarm, and all were ok). Funny thing, if I snooze it, it works perfectly fine after 8 minutes. My 7am alarm (with the same song) worked fine. The exact same thing happened today. Both times the phone was on a charger.

Seems like my case supports some of the others - first alarm doesn't go off, but once you start using your phone it works as scheduled. I guess I will need to start using my iPhone in my sleep - otherwise, how am I supposed to wake up?

I'll be waiting for the solution until I get fired... Then you can eat your stinking iPhone.

I now have an appointment with the Apple Geniuses to see whether it is a hardware or software issue. I don't see how it could be a hardware problem if I am using an iPhone 5 and others having the problem are using a 6 or 6+. My issue only started once I upgraded to 8.4, but I see it's gone back to 8.1, The chat guy said because it can't be replicated every time, he's not sure where the problem lies. For my phone, sometimes the alarm will go off as scheduled, sometimes it won't go off at all, sometime I can hit the snooze, and get the tone to go off for a second or so, and other times (like when I was talking with the support guy), it worked just as it should. I don't know if it is primarily a problem with the recurring alarms, but I can say it was not resolved with a factory reset, and starting as new (not from a back up). Also, I have tried using third party alarm apps, but after about a week, they stopped working, as well. I have tried deleting the alarms every day, and using new alarms, and that hasn't solved the problem, either. Multiple alarms obviously don't work if it gets stuck on the Snooze/awake screen.

Because it's probably not the same issue in every case. The alarm not going off is a symptom of something, probably multiple different somethings.

I have been having this issue since upgrading to iOS 8.4.1

I have discovered that my alarms are failing if I play a third-party music app after setting the alarm. Spotify, Public Radio, anything like that will cause the alarm to play for a brief second before shutting itself off.

The only way to ensure the alarms will work correctly is by closing all of my music apps and then setting the alarms. Which is an inconvenience for me as i always fall asleep to music. Never had a problem with this for as long as i've had my iPhone until this recent update.

I too am a victim of this problem, but only on my iPhone 6+ and since upgrading to 8.4.1.

It seems to be and interaction with using any app to play media, whether it be music or video. If that app is in the foreground when I go to sleep, then my alarm will not sound.

When getting ready to sleep, I have started making sure the Clock app is in the foreground and that the Volume is at maximum. I haven't had a failure since. It's not the perfect solution, but it seems to work. Your mileage may vary. Please respond if this method is effective for you or not.

I upgraded to iOS 9 two days ago. I'll be interested to see if this is still a problem.

I have also had problems with the alarm ever since updating to the new software and with the new iPhone 6s Plus, when the alarm is going off, if the home button is pressed the fingerprint sensor immediately unlocks the phone and disables the alarm. It used to be be that you would press the home button to wake the screen and tenth hit snooze or turn off option on the touch screen but that no longer works. Is apple aware of this?

The way it has worked for me since at least iOS 8 is that, if the alarm goes off and the phone is locked, there is an option on the screen to snooze or turn it off. I don't ever tap the Home button. It does require that you open your eyes and focus, which can be a bit of a challenge at 5a.

Then use your non fingerprint to hit the home button.

There are times when I miss the snooze button and the screen shuts off on me, I made the mistake once of using my fingerprint to hit the home button.

Now I remember to use my non fingerprint to hit the home button if I miss the hitting the snooze on the screen before it the screen turns off on me.
